When it comes to a longtime perspective on the world of crack cocaine, even the experts turn to Fletch, a self-trained expert on the subject of the chemical analysis of crack. Having started the popular scholarly journal All Your Base five years ago, Fletch fondly recalls the days when there was a crack house on every corner, and a Big 8 in every crackpipe.

In this comprehensive interview with The Daily News, Fletch shares some secrets about the world of freebasing, as well as some recipes gathered while on the road in both America and beyond.

The Daily News: When and where did you first discover crack cocaine?
Fletch: I was 12 years old at the time, experiencing the world for the first time. Everything was bright and new, and I was in love with life itself. A man by the name of J.B. Duke gave me my first taste of candy. From there, I was hooked, so to speak.

TDN: What is it you like so much about crack?
F: Crack cocaine, it's fantastic! My favorite Kryptonite hit of the day is the morning wake-up, that first blast off the crack pipe. It really puts a spring into my step!
Everything is better with crack. I smoke P-dogs at brunch, Regular "P" in the afternoons, and Coco Rocks after dinner with a nice sherry. A Coco Rock, for those not in the in-crowd, is dark brown crack made by adding chocolate pudding during production.

TDN: Do you smoke Geek?
F: You know it! I love the mellow high of the bud with the edginess of a fine Columbian crack rock.

TDN: Where can one find crack of the the highest quality?
F: Those garbage heads have ruined it for everyone, and our generation is about to lose its knowledge of the fine art of the cook.
Personally, I think the best was the dragon rock down at 85th and Vine. I saw Robert Downey Jr. down there once, and you know what he said to me?
"You know what, Fletch? I'll be darned if this isn't the best Shabu I've ever had."
I think he meant it, too.

TDN: When should we be expecting the next book?
F: Soon. Very soon. I'm currently developing the plot right now. Obviously, after the blockbuster success of All Your Base Are Belong To Us: The Story of the American Crack Revolution, my publisher is practically begging for the next installment!
