Will consumers find GeoIP as annoying as popups in the future?

What do you think? Will consumers eventually become annoyed by ads appearing everywhere that try to make them think content/sites are relevant to where they live, when in fact they're just generico?

Will GeoIP end up like popups in a couple of years?

Maybe not as annoying, but surfers will definitely become "savvy" as to what is going on if they haven't already (which they are starting to).

They are not as annoying as popups, but it's a pain in the ass.

The technology doesn't seem to be quite there just yet. Case in point, I live in a major city center and I have seen tons of ads locating me as being in a tiny suburb some 30km away.

Agreed that it won't necessarily be annoying, but it will lose it's lustre a bit until another GFY pioneer again reinvents the Geo ad.

geoip isn't near as intrusive as pop ups. its no more annoying than any other text they could possible be offended by. i just think it will become much less effective over time.

Not if they use it correctly. Right now I find most of it just annoying.
