Fuzebox gave it away. At least one of the so called "secrets" - add your blog's RSS feed to your My Yahoo page and you will get listed a lot quicker as well as get more traffic from Yahoo. You can also add it to your personalized Google home page which does help there. Also, make use of Google's site map prgram and ping it every time you post.
