How many people chopped up their Visa cards?

Just wondering. I know lots of people are angry about Visa killing their processing for beasty sites. Bunch of mind control, dictator wannabes telling people what they can and can't do.

Anyways...

I'm assuming all the people incensed at Visa's brazen attack on our civil liberties have decided to show their disapproval of Visa's assault on liberty by no longer continuing to contribute to the financial success of Visa anymore.

Show of hands. Who tore up their Visa cards after this Stalin-like move on Visa's part?

believe it or not FP, I actually did. I went to each of their sites first thing this morning, paid all my balances off on all of them, and slipped 'em into the shredder behind me. I shit you not.

Might as well cut them all up now and save time. They'll all ban it soon. So cutting up one kind won't do a thing.

I expect to get bitched at for this... but let me see if I understand this...

Beastiality is illegal in the most of the US... and you're mad because Visa doesn't want to be associated with dog fuckers?

Hell, I wish they'd lower the boom on CP sites as well.

Me? Nah...I could care less.

I'll be worried when people start dictating to other people who they have to do business with. I don't do business with beasty sites, so I don't see why anyone should be forced to.

buying a subscription to a beast site is NOT illegal. VISA is not preventing anyone from fucking their dog. They're preventing people who want to pay to see it from doing so. Same as stealing a car is illegal.... but paying to see Nick Cage do it at the theatre is not. Is it? Or did they change that too?

Let's keep things in perspective here.

Damn Amp good point... But I have to play Devil's Advocate here. The difference would be here. Nick Cage is pretending. The Beast stuff is real. Now either way last I checked this was a free country, funny how that is tossed about when it fits people they way they want it to. So should people be able to do what ever they like in the Privacy of their own homes. Hey if it doesn't hurt anyone have fun. Either way... As long as our society is dominated and ruled by Religion you will see stuff like this happen and you will see our industry as a whole riped on.

yes, but in many places, the real act of the man/beast thing actually isn't illegal.... but regardless... that's not the point. Visa also stopped processing for simulated beast as well, didn't they? How is that different from simulated car theft by Mr. Cage?

That's a point there too Amp.

The wording of the letter is very ambiguous, since who knows what else they might decide is tarnishing the Visa brand image...

LOL

Visa should change it's logo from "Everywhere you want to be" to "Forced to give loans since 2002".

Every business has a right to decide who it will do business with. Everyone who gives loans has the right to decide who they loan money to.

Visa is not doing anything different from what hundreds of thousands of other companies do daily...they're doing business with who they want.

Visa - Everywhere you want to be...because they HAVE to be there.

right..... we hashed this out the other day FP.... but I still think it's bullshit. Like I said, Visa is not preventing anyone from fucking animals. They're simply making it more difficult for legit buyers that want to see it. Sure, okay.... they can choose who they want to deal with and who they don't. But they have essentially cut off processing for something that is perfectly legal to buy, simply because they don't like it.

That's even more scary than the actual beast content to me.

You may think it's melodramatic and ridiculous, but what IF they decide they don't like action flicks where people SIMULATE murder and decide to stop processing for that too? Will you still be arguing that they can do business with whoever they choose?

Of course they can..... doesn't mean we have to like it or fucking agree with it. Visa can fucking blow me. It's not about the beast content. It's about their shitty fucking policy that, for all intents and purposes, leaves the door wide open for them to start cutting off processing for whatever they "don't like". And I personally think that's fuckin' bullshit.

Fuck Visa.

What would you do if you took your car to a garage to get a new starter put in, and the shop manager told you to get out.... he doesn't "like" to work on Gremlins. Not because they don't know how... they work on ALL cars.... he just doesn't "like" your car. What if ALL garages refused you service because they don't "like" your car? It's their choice right? They can do business with whoever they want, right? You're not doing anything illegal.... you didn't do anything wrong..... but you're getting fucked because of someone's personal fucking preferences. Is that right? I would argue no.

Yes. Alternatives to Visa cards are plentiful. If Visa decides they don't want to process for my steak dinner at Angelino's that's their problem.

Everyday companies and people choose what is acceptable and what is not acceptable for their businesses. I really don't see why this is any different in the slightest.

Visa could follow American Express' lead and not process for ANY adult sites at all....someone else will, and life will go on. The money flow will not stop, it will simply travel a different route.

The DMV:

There's a privelege. Driving is not a right. Let's suppose the state decided they don't want to give you a license because you have a sports car. Sports cars cause trouble. They go too fast. It's their decision right? You don't have a RIGHT to drive. Still cool with that?

Do they work on everyone else's Gremlins? If they do, then we have a potential problem.

If they don't work on Gremlins at all, then there is no proble with this situation. I'll find a Gremlin auto shop.

This is pretty simple.

They're not assaulting your civil liberties, they are exercising theirs.

You do not have a right to pay for something with Visa.

You DO have the right to NOT pay for something with Visa, or have a Visa. That's called voting with your wallet. Kudos to anyone here with the balls enough to do it, it's how the capitalist system works.

>but you're getting fucked because of someone's personal >fucking preferences. Is that right? I would argue no.
>

Yep. It's absolutely right. That's their right. You would exercise that same right if someone came to you with something not illegal (but you didn't like) and told you to make a site with it, wouldn't you? (I don't know enough about you to say what that might be, but believe me, there's something out there for you.)

Anyone saying that Visa is doing anything wrong here needs to pull their heads out of their asses. Watch the free market at work - this won't even begin to affect beasty sites at work, some other processor/other card will take up the slack. The beasty freaks will have their porn.

Cheers,
Backov

Didn't say they are doing anything wrong (legally) Backov.... I agreed with FP the other day on that..... it IS their choice. What I'm saying now is that I don't have to like it or agree with it. I think it fucking sucks sloth nuts. And I think the Visa policy makers can lick my anal secretions and take their fucking Visa's and shove 'em up their asses til they puke my account numbers....

That's what I'm saying today.

Then I'll find another mechanic.

Is Visa the only payment option in the entire world? Nope.

Is carrying a Visa card a right? Nope.

Is using that Visa card to pay for anything a right? Nope.

Do you have the right to boycott Visa and show your disapproval? Yep.

Visa is wherever they want to be, and they don't want to be at beasty sites. There is nothing wrong about that.

There is something wrong with people telling other people who they have to associate with and do business with though. I don't tell you who you have to do design work for do I?

Okay. As long as you agree they didn't do anything WRONG, they just did something you don't like.

That's cool. I do that all the time. I boycotted Caldor til they went bankrupt because the fuckers wouldn't take my check one day.

Thinking Visa blows goats and refusing to do business with them is the American way if you don't like what they're doing.

Just as long as everyone knows Visa didn't do anything wrong, and isn't infringing on anyone's rights.

Then you're the man. Seriously. I love people with the balls to stand up and make this system work by voting with their wallets. I only wish their were more of you so the system didn't suck as much as it has been lately (See the Senator from Disney and the CBDTPA)

Visa is a convenience service. Whether it's loaning money to people, or enabling them to pay for something without cash on hand, it's a convenience service.

They can provide that convenience service or change the terms of that service whenever they want.

No.... but I have never and will never decline someone that is requesting a legal site to be produced. The only declines I've ever done are for illegal material. Just because I don't "LIKE" the content someone wants me to work with, doesn't mean I'm gonna turn them down. You think I actually LIKE working with gay fisting content??? Fuck no.... am I gonna turn someone down because I don't like it? Hell no.

Picking and choosing your business relations based on what you "like" and don't "like" is a fucking bullshit policy and it always will be. Aren't we OUT of high school now?

Paint stores everywhere just stopped selling green paint because the owners don't "like" green...... sorry.... we know you love green and wanted to paint your house green.... but too fucking bad.... no more green paint. Are they in the right for doing that? Sure.... it's their business..... they can do whatever they want. Do I hafta fucking like it? No.

Only one problem with the argument Fatpad -- and yes, I agree that Visa is a convenience service -- HOWEVER, when you control 70% of the credit/debit market, to the tune of about a trillion dollars a year, you no longer are just one little company making a moral decision, or even a decision about sites that aren't profitable.

You have become a monopoly -- think about what would happen to the US economy if Visa just stopped tomorrow -- and you now have different obligations to people.

I'm not proposing the monopoly idea, regarding Visa, several government agencies have done just that, and are investigating their business practices now.

Make that 70% of the consumer point of purchase credit/debit market, just so we don't have to argue semantics ;)

But you could. You could refuse to do anal fisting paysite designs, you could refuse to do site designs with green in them, you can refuse anything you want.

KK - If Visa went out of business tomorrow, Mastercard would pick up the slack, a dozen other companies would pop up within weeks, and the economy would roll on.

p.s. No it's not. I don't like beasty or teen sites, and don't have any ads for them on my sites. Personal preference.

but that will never happen.....

because it's a BULLSHIT policy.

Do you think the people over at CCBill "like" beasty sites? I doubt that the majority of them do. (except maybe Kimmy....) But they processed for them anyway. (until God... oops, I mean Visa, disallowed it) It's JUST BUSINESS. And that's no place for someone's moral fucking rightousness to be stepping in. And especially with a corp as massive as Visa. I do not affect the huge quantities of people that Visa does. There is a difference there.

Not a chance -- you'd see a downturn and a recession if not an outright depression. The affects on consumer confidence would be huge, the other cc companies would be hammered with more people wanting credit than they would have in place to offer, not to mention the banks that would be affected by the loss of revenue and the fallout from trying to sort out such a giant mess.

Good thing Visa just stopped processing for Beasty sites then and didn't go out of business, isn't it?
