Only one problem with the argument Fatpad -- and yes, I agree that Visa is a convenience service -- HOWEVER, when you control 70% of the credit/debit market, to the tune of about a trillion dollars a year, you no longer are just one little company making a moral decision, or even a decision about sites that aren't profitable.
You have become a monopoly -- think about what would happen to the US economy if Visa just stopped tomorrow -- and you now have different obligations to people.
I'm not proposing the monopoly idea, regarding Visa, several government agencies have done just that, and are investigating their business practices now.
