600x480 windows media encoder settings
Anyone have some settings they can suggest for 600x480 encoding using windows media encoder? I've been messing with it and all the encoding options they have the video looks like shit at 600x480.

try 648x486
That's the ntsc size for videos... for television. For the web, 640x480 is more common. You can also try 4:3 aspect ratio... or even 1:1 (square pixels). That should help it look less skewed. |

I think cutetwink is asking about data rate, compression, etc., although the tips about the aspect ratio were correct (and very important).
For compression, Sorenson is a good codec. I recently purchased AutoDesk Cleaner 6 (I'm a Mac-head), and it has a wide range of compression settings. Use trial and error with a small clip and dial in what you think is the best trade-off between quality to file size. ADG Webmaster |
