Depends on what 'gross' means in this example. Could be a negative number.

For you guys doing mainstream, is there much less chance of getting ripped off in mainstream (it seems adult programs go up and disappear every day)? I suppose most of you are affiliates of the large well established mainstream networks?

LOL

That's so untrue.

Here's a perfect example:

Ever heard of http://www.chitika.com ???

Here's what's being said at http://chitikasucks.wordpress.com/ :

Chitika Sucks

I haven?t been ripped off this bad since that one time when I bought a Dreamcast.

Wow, I got 70%~ cut, I thought earned close to 549$ last month, ending giving me like 80$. Chitika SUCKS!

Chitika is a damn SCAM!! What a waste of advertisement time?I have been screwed again!

phogirl69 12-06-2005 05:32 PM

To me it's a lot of money. Remember the average salary in America is like 40 something thousand for a family. Lots of people would be very happy making 26k a month. A lot of people who went to college and have degrees dont even make close like that, probably more like 50-60k a YEAR

Most average people also dont need 8k mortgages or whatevers....

But of course everyone on gfy is a millionaire and big so it's all chump change to them...

J$tyle$, thanks for the info, that's very helpful.

One more question for you guys doing mainstream. Say you're an adult affiliate that promotes a lot of revshare programs. Is there equivalent in the mainstream world?

Without recurring does your income from mainstream change drastically from month to month because new sales may change? Not that it's important as even a bad month pushing mainstream products making a couple hundred bucks off single sales is still very good and more profitable than a month adult membership.

Marshal 12-06-2005 08:11 PM

this is definitely a lot of money...

Brujah 12-06-2005 08:31 PM

It's good money. It's not a lot of money. Can you see yourself saying "I make a lot of money." with $26k per month ? I think it'd be more like, "I do alright."

At the top 1% of money earners in the world I think "I do alright" would just be modesty.

most of us are talkin webmasters, some here are talking about mailers, big dif.

Jarmusch 12-06-2005 09:02 PM

the more you make - the more you spend - the more you need.

One of the biggest mailers out there is in this thread. He says he is happy when he makes 20k a day. Do the math. 4 mil a year is not the norm in mainstream. $350/sale is not the norm. I know mainstream is big but this is a real backwater with those numbers.

It's an incredible amount of money..... but I agree, once you are used to any income it's easy for your expenses to spiral out of control.

strobi 12-07-2005 07:26 AM

That is a SHITLOAD of money if it's steady. You can easily live of 10K$/month and save 16,5K$/month. Compounding at 10% interest for 25 years you'll have -> 21,419,989$.. not too shabby! Most people need a reality check.
