hosts file not working properly ?
i added these lines in my hosts file
64.255.171.23 www.gayreels.com 64.255.171.23 gayreels.com and here is what i get after ping: Pinging www.gayreels.com [64.255.171.23] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 64.255.171.23: bytes=32 time=195ms TTL=52 Reply from 64.255.171.23: bytes=32 time=194ms TTL=52 Reply from 64.255.171.23: bytes=32 time=195ms TTL=52 Reply from 64.255.171.23: bytes=32 time=195ms TTL=52 Ping statistics for 64.255.171.23: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 194ms, Maximum = 195ms, Average = 194ms BUT when i type www.gayreels.com to a browser, i still get directed to an old ip.. what could it be ? why is it not taking any effects ?

Why not just type the IP in the browser url instead of the addy - then you would be looking at the new stuff

Give your machine a reboot. I'm more of a linux/macosx guy (you wouldnt have to do this in either) but ive read several things here and there on the net that recommend a reboot of windows after changing the hosts file.

You need to clean your DNS cache.. easiest way is to press Alt+Shift+F4+Ctrl then click on Flush DNS cache
