i've always said that the design of the site really doesn't matter and it's the quality and selection of the pictures that matter the most.

I can't say I have ever heard a surfer say that they signed up to a site because it had really cool design. They could care less if it was a white background with black writting, as long as the images were hot they were interested. There are so many more factors that play into why a site converts well/makes a lot of money and design is not in the top 10.

Agreed - which is why our tours that will never win design awards have historically converted better than designs for big programs done by award winning designers.

To Alien's credit - the images are the focus and he doesn't busy the layout and distract from the images.
