It's up to each of us to create the kind of filtering system that ensures people in our lives don't take advantage of us. For me, I simply won't do anybody any favours in the first 6 months of knowing them -- the predatory people usually don't have enough patience to stick around long enough, and the people who just want to be my friends don't need any favours.

Rather than regret about how other people are....be glad for all you have done for them and others.

That always sucks man, sorry to hear it , but unfortunatly it wil happen again in life too many people are not genuine wich is really sad but true.

Not that it matters one way or another man, but you are alright in my book, at leatst people know where they stand with you and that is all a person can ask of someone I think.

i don't buy into that at all. I bought a poor person i just met a warm jacket today. they didn't ask, but all they had was a spring jacket and in winnipeg you NEED a lot more than that.

When you realize they had none, know that you are just the last person in a long line of abused people and watch where they go next.

I try to help people when I can regardless of how long I've known them. Pay it forward. It takes little effort to help out others. Yeh, being taken advantage of sucks, but it doesn't suck enough to turn me into an unhelpful person.

You don't ask your friends for favors and vice-versa? Wow.

I think a better gauge is watching how many friends that person goes through while being your "friend".
