WWF Wrestler Eddie Guererro Died????

http://www.startribune.com/stories/462/5724133.html

This is soooo heartbreaking. Eddie was the reason I started watching WWF again! This is so sad.

The number of wrestlers who die way too young is insane and tragic. Owen Hart, Rick Rude, Miss Elizabeth, Bruiser Brody, the Von Erichs, the list goes on ... and now add another one.

Apparently both Raw and SmackDown will air tributes to Eddie this week.

The Junkyard Dog is dead too. I saw him at Walmart a couple years back before he passed. He was sitting all sad at a little card table signing autographs. The only thing was no one was stopping to see him. It was really depressing. I almost got one myself just to make him feel better. Now I wish I had.

It's pretty obvious the guy was on steroids. So many of them have gone as a result of heart failure due to that.

I heard the news yesterday evening.

I admire him, and the way he and other contemporary wrestlers brought back the glory of wrestling. It will never be the same again without him on the ring.

VERY sad.
he was a great performer and athlete.

...and for all you talking shit. he had been clean and sober for 4 years.
Maybe what he'd done in the past was bad for his health, but that hardly means the man deserved to die at such a young age.

It's still very sad. I grew up on wrestling. For almost two decades the WWF used to tape their shows across the street from my office in my hometown. I saw all the greats from Bruno Sammartino and Ivan Putsky to Hogan and on.

I hadn't been keeping up on wrestling until just this year and Eddie Guerrero was my favorite. I could get on the phone with all my latino cousins and friends and we'd talk about him all day. He really brought back lots of fans and the kids loved him and loved to hate him. When he was battling Mysterio it was a real treat.

38 is too young. I expect to see the kids in my neighborhood crestfallen but we'll cheer em' up.

I'll have to remember the good times in wrestling that I witnessed. Like meeting Jessie the Body Ventura and his shoulders were so big they looked like he was smuggling furniture in them. When Andre the Giant stopped by my grandparents' house to get cookies and took up the entire porch and bent it. When King Kong Bundy went to get a snack at the corner deli and was so big he blocked out the sunlight on Market St. and people swerved out of the way with their cars so they wouldn't hit him. The time the Iron Sheik has a $15,000 persian rug swiped from his limo and the cops had to find it. When Road Warriors showed up in town and people mobbed the arena. When Big John Stud moved me out of the way the day King Kong Bundy debuted and we saw he was so huge it looked like a parade passing by.

When Rowdy Roddy Piper parked his car near the basketball court and yelled at the kids playing. right in front of the city's most exclusive businessman's club. That was a riot! Watching the cooks at the diners having to go outside and lay down and rest after the wrestlers would come in and eat everything but the customers.

Shaking hands with some of the wrestlers like Hulk Hogan. His hands were so big if he waved them through the air you figured the moon would rise with a black eye.

I'll never forget Wrestlemania I. Awesome.

Well we'll have to wait to find out what the cause of Eddie's death was.

Some of us grew up on things like Bugs Bunny, WWF, etc. It's different for each person, this would equate to things like kids watching Power Rangers , or Pokemon now.

While I don't watch wrestling as an adult, I watched it constantly as a kid back when Andre the Giant was big and such. I even still have a huge mug with Andre the Giant on it that came out a loong time ago.

Nostalgia mostly for me, reminds me of when I was a kid.

Puleeeze... only a twisted mind would look at it as 'nearly naked men groping each other'...

Pro wrestling for us was they were the closest thing to real life superheroes and supervillains. It was Marvel Comics come to life. There was great 'trash talking' and wrestling moves. We knew it wasn't real but we enjoyed the amusement. It's the toughest form of entertainment there is. You have to be in top condition and there is no room for error when executing those moves. One mistake and a man could die. Those guys train and train and train. Many are record holding athletes too. Not some fly by night circus clowns.

One day the Iron Sheik showed how strong he was. He picked up two 75lb juggling clubs and twirled them around like they were toys. When you're that strong you command respect. Roddy Piper one day demonstrated olympic wrestling. It was the scariest thing we'd seen. Awesome strength and endurance. He showed the world he knows his shit.

So it's more than that. It's a fun night out watching guys and girls having fun and when the cameras are off they actually meet with their fans and share much wisdom. Some wrestlers are professional musicians, writers, artists etc.

George 'The Animal' Steel was an expert in English literature. It was an honor to meet him.

So they're just not jocks.

Yeah George Steele was from Detroit, Michigan if I remember right. I went on a search for some old wrestlers, like Jake "The Snake" Robers, Honkey Tonk Man etc. Pretty wild to go back that far and see what these guys look like now.

i had a talk with a friend of mine about this, he has been following world wrestling news for years and he told me that wrestlers pretty much are "forced" to get on heavy painkillers so they can fight 3-4 days/ week like Gueerro did. If you are familiar with how strong these drugs are at one point your heart is gonna fail.

You would think that some of these guys would look around them and see how many have died and how young, and change the things they are doing to their bodies.

Money and fame can be a more powerful drug ....
Look at the NFL, baseball, etc. and how many of those guys do the same thing.

I don't have it for stupid and wreckless people . If some kids die of starvation in africa, that will toutch me more then the teens that died a quarder mile of my house less then a week ago. A train was passing, and they went just offroad, next to the cars waiting for the train to pass, and they got hit by the train ... fucking sucks to be stupid like that.

The shit is on now! This link takes you to a series of links and articles about Eddie. Eddie's official website is on there and memorials from Ray Mysterio and 'Test' Martin. For those of you who wonder about the behind the scenes of wrestling, 'Test' Martin just broke shit down for you. He must be really grieving to have posted what he has. I expect a firestorm to occur. Eddie may not have died in vain.

Y'know, what Test Martin said is what has been said for decades yet he says it in a way that goes for the real.

If this kind of nonsense is going on the committees that oversee sports and entertainment have been negligent. I told you guys before that pro wrestling is the toughest sport and entertainment there is. No room for error in that ring. When 300lb guys dive 12ft in the air to land on you that shit has got to hurt. The most horrifying wrestling stunt I've ever seen is when the Road Warriors were on top. One guy put a chain around Hawk's neck and literally flipped him over the ropes, out the ring and the chain was still around his neck. He bounced off the side of the ring and flipped back into the ring. We thought he was dead. Only his excellent conditioning saved him from what would have been certain doom.
