Ya his gradient transitions...angles, washed out colors. You know its a good director when all you have to do is watch the movie and you instantly know his work.

rip kubrick

shit ya...
some of the dialogue in the movie was impov!! all of emery (the di) was ad lib as the actor who was hired to do the job was a suckass do kubrick tells emery ( who was a technical advisor for the movie to take the job and the rest was history)
I wonder if there is a unrated uncut version floating around?

btw.. did you know the movie was film in england? the palm trees came from spain and the asians came from various towns around london!

who had the domain misohorny.com sell it again. i wish you would sell it.

the barracks seens .. brought back memories of endless push ups, hours of mindless cleaning, wasted minutes of ironing, and the best fucking belly laughing i have ever had. I loath my boot camp days... but i would never ever trade a single second of it.

Whenever I walk into a room and Full Metal Jacket is on I will most likely sit down and end up watching the rest of it. And I generally avoid watch anything over let alone several times.

Didn't know that. Is there a commentary track? I'm 100% positive the DVD was released prior to Kubrick passing. I picked up a pack of 4 Kubrick movies bundled at Circuit City right when the DVD player and the DIVX format was released. too lazy to check.

emery did a movie called.. firebase gloria.. suckass plot but his role as the gunny sgt was outstanding..
I love it when he goes around the perimeter pumping the boys when "when the end is never.. you pray.. and i pray to jesus.. to mohammed..to buddha"
I crossed path with a guy who is a civil war reactment actor and a living history teacher and was on the history channel roll call.. and did a bit on civil war artillery .. and he said the emery is quite the jokester.

The Siege of Firebase Gloria (1989) (additional dialogue) (as R. Lee Ermy)
Full Metal Jacket (1987) (technical advisor) (as Lee Ermey)
... aka Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket (USA: poster title)

Apocalypse Now (1979) (military advisor) (uncredited)
... aka Apocalypse Now Redux (International: English title: longer version)

Saw Jarhead last night as well and you are right, it wasn't the same. I still was a great fucking movie, another classic in my mind. Two different eras with two different mentalities. For those who haven't seen Jarhead, I highly recommend it, Jamie Fox is outstanding in it. Really brought back a lot of memories from when I was in the desert.
