I used to bite mine as well - up until just a few years ago. I started cutting back on my suger intake and stopped biting my nails automatically....was the darndest thing. Have you changed your diet recently?

No shit dude - i stopped last week too! Although.. there was a reason.. my gf really looked at them and she was kinda shocked.. as in "how can you hurt yourself like that?" because i bit them pretty hardcore and the skin around them. I usually do it when I'm stressed/thinking.. And I've been workign pretty hardcore the last few weeks... the only time i remember stopping in the last few years was once on vacation. So I got some of that stuff you put on your fingernails that tastes fucking horrible. and after a few days i was conditioned to stop.. I opened my first can of coke unaided the the other day - i was like "look honey!" lol so pathetic.

i never bit my fingernails - but i did bite the skin around the nail - it was kinda primal, just ripping off my own skin with my bare teeth. i have no idea when I stopped or why. this thread just made me think about it - weird. I currently bite my nails but about two to three years ago I suddenly stopped... didn't even realize I had stopped until they started getting really long and people were actually complaining I was scratching them... I had to go to Walgreens and get nail clippers, I had never even owned them before! It's really weird to have a bad habit and suddenly stop with no explanation why. Although I do believe it is stress related and that's why I bite them.
