The vandalism has spread among largely immigrant and Muslim communities hurt by poverty, unemployment and alleged discrimination. In some areas, unemployment is 25 percent.

Actually being French is an ethnicity spanning many many years, and as with any ethnicity there is a racial element to it. I am not an indigenous Aboriginal simply because I am born in Australia, and they are not indigenous native French people simply because they were born in France. It is impossible to successfully argue against this Smokey, you can convince yourself, but you can not convince these people themselves, nor the wider public as a whole. Being French does not mean having French citizenship, that makes you a French citizen sure, but it doesn't mean you belong to the indigenous French ethnicity - the native owners of the land.
