WD rocks, I run two raptors in raid0 and 2 250gb drives as storage and backup drives. I have never had problems with WD.

My experiance to, Maxtor seems to be the best of the worse.

Get a ata150 or ata2 next time much more reliable.

Owning hundreds upon hundreds of hard drives I have to say they all suck now. The only really good SATA drive is a WD Raptor. In general, Seagate is the exception as we've had the least amount of drive failures with that brand.

Had a 60gb Maxtor die on me a few years back. Replaced it with two 80gb western digitals. Luckily managed to get one more boot from the Maxtor to mirror it before it became a door stopper.

Basically, they just don't make hard drives like they used to. Unless it's SCSI or a Raptor, they're all pretty much shit.

I don't think that computers are yet ready for hard drives.

If you were cool you'd still be using a phat set up like mine here in the office.
