Maxtor rules !!!!

for three months or so, after that it crashes, which gives you the pleasant opportunity to spend two days installing programs and shit

FiReC 10-31-2005 02:10 PM

check your power supply, i went thru 4 160 gig drives in a year thinking it was maxtors deal, replaced the power supply and haven't had problems since.

Basic_man 10-31-2005 02:12 PM

There will always be horror story, but Maxtor are making great HD.

Yes indeed, Maxtor drives suck big fucking cock... just lost one last week.

zzgundamnzz 10-31-2005 02:53 PM

I have a couple that are still running after 4 years of heavy use.

Officer 10-31-2005 02:59 PM

WD rocks, I run two raptors in raid0 and 2 250gb drives as storage and backup drives. I have never had problems with WD.
:2 cents:

Radiate 10-31-2005 03:47 PM

My experiance to, Maxtor seems to be the best of the worse.

Get a ata150 or ata2 next time much more reliable.

Wiggles 11-01-2005 04:57 AM

Western Digital is the best, they will replace most Hd's if there are problems.

Rui 11-01-2005 07:19 AM

problems happen with every drive...

Spunky 11-01-2005 07:21 AM

I think Maxtor is pretty damn good..never had a problem with mine

Paparazzi 11-01-2005 08:03 AM

I love my maxtor. IBM sucks bigtime with heating problems...

Brad Mitchell 11-01-2005 08:08 AM

Owning hundreds upon hundreds of hard drives I have to say they all suck now. The only really good SATA drive is a WD Raptor. In general, Seagate is the exception as we've had the least amount of drive failures with that brand.

Had a 60gb Maxtor die on me a few years back. Replaced it with two 80gb western digitals. Luckily managed to get one more boot from the Maxtor to mirror it before it became a door stopper.

Basically, they just don't make hard drives like they used to. Unless it's SCSI or a Raptor, they're all pretty much shit.

Ace_luffy 11-01-2005 01:00 PM

seagate and western digital.... highly recommended

EroticySteve 11-01-2005 01:38 PM

I don't think that computers are yet ready for hard drives.

If you were cool you'd still be using a phat set up like mine here in the office.
