How much do you spend on food each month?

I'm just looking over my bank statement... seems like I'm spending around $1000/month on food... We cook a little more now that I live with a woman -- but back when I lived the single life in Florida, going out to eat was a lot cheaper -- many of my meals were just jambalaya and beer at my favorite saloon... I miss those $4 pitchers... here in LA, $5 for a pint is cheap! That's 500% inflation... although there are some bars in Long Beach that I really enjoy...

Since I just moved to LA it's taking me longer to find places that I really like to eat -- Pasadena to me is pretty fucking boring for eating out... Anyway Pasadena is full of suburban cheese-heads -- we are moving out of here...

I read a thing a little while back that said San Fransico was the most expensive city to live in overall. . . not sure if that is still true though

Fly,
Cat and I spend about $500 - $650 (depending on if we go to the grocery store or not.

You need to get down to the Valley more often.
Lots of nice restaurants here, especially on Ventura Blvd. Or try La Cienega in West Hollywood (aka "The Restaurant District")

There is a nice italian place not too far from you in Burbnk, "Market City Cafe" and it's not too expensive.

There's a good cuban place on Ventura "Cha Cha Cha" and accross the street from that is "Bucca De Beppo" probably the most authentic italian place in LA.

PLus in Bucca, they photos of cocks on the walls. It's funny. LOL

Thanks for those tips -- I'll definitely check out those places... I've been to Bucca -- there's one right by my apartment...

It's a pretty good place to eat but still a salad with your meal is $10 -- maybe I'm a cheap-ass -- but come on it's just a plain salad -- I still go there once and a while though because they give you a lot of food... In the men's restroom there's a pic of what looks like a little boy pissing on his mom hehe...

I read this also -- this was determined based on some calculations of average income and how that related to the cost of rent/housing...

I agree to spend $1000 per month on food is easy, especially if you eat out alot. Personally I love cooking and am a member of Recipe Web on the net. If you actually eat healthy food, fresh etc then it costs. I hate McDonalds food and would rather star in a Max hardcore video than eat a big mac...if their is one thing I hate it is an empty fridge. So I stock up. It is really strange when you actually analysis your finances and discover where your money is going.

Two adults and two kids under the age of 4, we spend around $800-$1000.00/month, and that is not going out and splurging.

Wife cooks wonderful meals a home.

Anyone wanna feed two active teen boys ages 14 and 17?

I can remember the lean days B.PK. they're called..living paycheck to paycheck and making $300 or so stretch a month for 4 people.

Now.. heck. I actually pulled out the bank statement to check.. $700 on restaurants (doesn't include fast food cause I pay cash) and $600 at the grocery store. Alot of that is feeding an extra teen boy too who seems to always be around at dinner time. If I had to guess on fast food, it would be at least another $250 or $300.

So the grand total for Feb..$1600....accckkk.

Think I'll go find something for breakfast ;)

I don't know what our food bill is but I know we always have plenty of food but nothing to eat.

We have tons of stuff like ketchup, pickles, jelly, and crap like that but nothing that makes a complete meal. Luckily we have a good pizza place a few blocks away or I'd starve to death staring at 4 types of steak sauce and a jar of herring.
