Outsourcing Overseas - GoFuckYourself.com

I have been in this business for over 10 years now, going all the way back to the old BBS days.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I see an awful lot of posts looking for work done (preferably "offshore" or "overseas")

I understand that there are a lot of startups (newbies) posting here. Money is tight when you are trying to get things going, and you are already way, way late to the game.

And, the competition gets nastier and more fierce every single day.

But, please consider this for one New York minute before you hire some wannabe coder or designer from outside North America:

1. No matter how polite or willing to help that they seem to be, they are looking down on you and thinking that you are American scum and deep down inside nothing can change the fact that they resent the piss out of you.

2. Anything, and I mean ANYTHING that you teach or give them, will come back to haunt you when they take it, run, and go into business for themselves.

3. Never and I mean NEVER, give them content, especially not software, or any information about your business, ideas, or your plans.

Outsourcing can be a good deal for you, if you keep your distance.

If this sounds a bit paranoid, I'll loan you my shoes for the day.

Outsourcing breeds competition and rids complacency amongst American programmers and designers. It breeds innovation. It's healthy. We have been outsourcing for over 50 years. Recently it has climbed up the economical ladder so people who thought they had cush jobs are shitting in their pants.

for example, what i couldve earned a couple hundred for a few years ago friggen Apu at quicky mart will do for $20

If it wasn't for outsourcing and NAFTA shitty Fords will cost 3 times as much being built in the US instead of Mexico. Your Dell computer will be $6000 instead of $1500. Website membership fees would be $49.95/mth instead of $24.95.

If you get the right people, Outsourcing will work for you. Get the wrong guys, in any country, and you will waste your money.

A bit paranoid?

Very I would say.

1. Not true - noone looks down on their clients. (only when someone bithes a lot or is very very picky

- but even in this very case we try to understand why it is so and to deliver a better product - in our case it's design)

2. and 3. Partly true. Because the info you give will really return to you, but in the form of good works done for you. For examples experienced designers can produce templates (galleries for example) which will convert much better. As for ideas and info - we all read the boards - there's no place like boards where you can learn so much about this business. And as for the content - we can get it ourselves as well if we need it, but we'll never use your content, because we simply don't have the right to do it.

And in general about outsourcing - it's good.

As for me I like the word "overseas" - it makes me feel that I live in a fairy tale, distant mysterious for you land...

And I have no idea why most Americans think they have so brilliant ideas and they are so intelligent ... while they are not. The reason why America is where it is this days, is the GOOD LAW and OUTSOURCING...

Outsourcing can be a bitch if you are on the wrong end of it. However, the one good thing about outsourcing is it seems to be helping many countries onto their feet (India for one). Personally I think it might be the one thing that actually helps to improve poverty throughout the world. All this AID, etc has minimal effect, and the only true way to build these nations up is to make it profitable to do so. Once India is a more established economic powerhouse workers will demand more pay and better conditions and wages will go up, than companies will start looking to other poor nations to outsource their work and with good management the same things will happen.
