				 | things i wanted were a bar, a sauna, a jacuzzi tub AND indoor jacuzzi, a big garage, a workspace for woodworking, a playroom with pooltable and arcade games, a hobby room, a great room for entertaining several people and an office with a library feel. best bet is to make a list of stuff you like when visiting others homes or even features you liked at a hotel on vacation

I have remodeled like crazy as it is. Plan on eventually having a house built. Also been helping the fiance study up on taking her contractors license test, so we are always looking at some of the new or better ways to do things.

				 | Whats the deal with the LCD style windows? I've never heard about them. The solid core insulation just a brand name? Steel studs for a certain reason? I'm in Nebraska not sure if that would matter. |

Solid core insulation is basicly solid foam between all wall studs. Basicly makes your walls solid so to speak. Steel studs. Well they are stonger. They last longer. The are immune to pest and vermin. Plus they are cheaper than wood more often. They work just like wood studs do, just a whole lot better.

				 | Dude you're building a house as your first house? Everyone I know who's ever built has always said that you'll end up building again. As a first time builder, you miss a lot and don't think of a lot of things. So be sure to ask input from a lot of people, especially people who have built.

If we have not done so much damn remodeling before I would never have my own built without serious consultation. Then as a first house? Hell no.

				 | Yes it is as a first house. I'm having a company do it that makes custom homes in this area. I can spend 20-30k more and get something how I want it and brand new or spend 20-30k less and get 1 less bedroom, 1 less bathroom, and a house that is atleast 30 years old. To be the new one sounds like a lot better investment. More sq ft, more bedrooms, more bathrooms. I'm not doing the building myself I'm just letting the company know what I would be interested in. |

				 | Large closets, large closets and large closets. Have I mentioned large closets? Oh, and a garage. The only two things I miss not having in this house And put the W/D next to the bedrooms, not in the basement/garage/etc. Make sure if you like open windows, you get windows that open. They just built a house next to me with mostly fixed (view) windows and french doors. I'd rather have windows that open and sliding glass doors with screens. AND DON'T SCRIMP ON APPLIANCES AND HVAC!! |

				 | have one of the bedroom doors wide enough for a wheelchair. Do some research about plants to put around your house that keep pest away naturally. a walk in pantry big enough for a deep freezer. a pizza oven that doubles as a salamander an extra little sink in the kitchen is always nice. 2 sinks in the master bath a place to sit in the oversized shower with multiple shower heads. a GREAT exhaust fan for the bathrooms. (don't skimp) an intercom system if 2 story... an external staircase to the 2md floor in the back with a little deck...for smoke breaks..if home office is on 2nd floor. cable connection in every room... (it's free).. have them do it when it's being built...so they can wire internal walls too. double front and back doors (easy to move shit in and out) no little closets. no little bathrooms extra wide staircase that's about it. |

				 | House itself would be made of pine logs. HUGE double-story windows. Second floor master suite encompassing the vast majority of the second floor. Deck off Master. Jacuzzi tubs in each bathroom, (at least two bathrooms 'cause I'm only sharing my bathroom with whatever lucky individual is invited to join me in a bubble bath) Heated tile floors in the bathrooms 'cause getting out of a hot shower or bath just to freeze your balls off when you stand on a cold tile floor sucks Gourmet kitchen Double oven with an extra warming space Gas range Full bar in the game room where the pool table is Fully stocked basement dungeon for play and shoots Two double-sided fireplaces and one large stone fireplace (kitchen/dining room, game room/dungeon and Master bedroom, respectively) Exposed rafters and cathedral ceilings ('cause I'm nuts enough to want to hang hammocks from the rafters and LOVE the open feel of the ceilings) Wired for high speed internet No nearby neighbors

				 | very nice replies Right now we are looking at master bathroom have 2 sinks, jacuzzi tub, and shower with a little bench type thing in it. Big master bedroom with walk in closets. All rooms will be wired with cable, telephone, and plenty of electrical outlets. Surround sound wires will all be wired into the wall so no exposed wires for that. Thinking of building the wall around the front speakers, sub, and tv. And having 2-3 feet of space behind that wall where I could walk in and hook/unhook devices for the tv. |

flat top stove and the oven ventilation system built in above is nice too have the dishwasher to the right of the stove and to the right of the dishwasher have a bottle shoot that you can throw cans/bottles down and there is a big cardboard box in the basement that catches them.. I'd take pics if I had my camera handy | |

				 | Even if it only gets the smallest portion, I still want a bar on my house. I just visited my cousin's newly constructed house and he has his minibar right beneath the staircase. It only consumes roughly 3x3 meters of the total area of the house but it really looks great! |
