Will Goggle ever fuck up?

ok i like google like most people do, but personally I think they're taking on to much to fast. at some point they're going to fuck up, atleast that's what i think. They have a lot of nice ventures earth.google video.goggle local.goggle toolbar, gmail, etc. But, other side projects such as there messenger (crap), Google Payment Corp (up coming to revial paypal), Goggle classifies (a ebay type site) talks of a possible OS and browser, oh and there free wireless/broadband internet service they want to offer. It just seems like they're trying to do to much for a company that has no real structure but has a shit load of money invested into which allows them to start up any side business/project.

just my views on it.

They've the best people in the industry working there. Plus, if a side project fucks up, they can discard it in favor of a successful one. If they didn't try things, they wouldn't be advancing. For every failed project, there's a successful one, and it's gonna bring more returns than expenses on something that failed.

Unless im missing something i think that when the majority of people dont go to www.google.com anymore for their daily searches google IS fucked.

How much of their revenue comes from network sites / adsense?

You are completely right, once a competitor releases a better search engine, google will sink faster than a titanic....

You're right. This is what Yahoo! did way back when: Try to be all things to all people and they lost focus on the main reason they were so popular (search results). But now that Google has shareholders to answer to it's all about more, more, more cash money.

I dont think they will fuck up because they have professionals and because of the money they are able to invest i think they can be successful in any ventures. As long as they have money...they can ofcourse try , maybe things might work just fine , if not then that again is not a problem for them. The parent search engine is just perfect is will be a great money making shit for them forever..

I can't say with a certainty what percentage of their revenue is from adsense, but I manage dozens of AdWords campaigns in every vertical (we do managed advertising/marketing), and i've never seen more than 10-15% of the clicks come from the "content network" (adsense). And these clicks they only get ~40% (estimate) of the revenue on, so that leaves 6% of the click revenue, assuming equal CPC (cost per click).

they don't promote their new ideas like mad before they try them and realize they fail, they have failed at many things, you just don't hear much about it because they are smart at it.

A few months ago Orkut had a serious bug: if you were logged in and visited an external page with some code targetted to your account the page owner could transfer your communities to him or do something like that.

I dont know if they will fuck up - but as far as im concerned - as are a fucking vast swathe of webmasters with decent sites - they can FUCK OFF.

Anyone still using them for search is a complete wanker - everyone knows it.

exactly.

Google not only has a superior product, and awesome team, killer foresight and an incredible reputation - they have momentum.

And we've all heard the theory "An object in motion tends to stay in motion" - Google aint going anywhere. I got money on it. :D

Yeah - last month it was 96%.

Google are total crap - and they get worse every day.

Go read the **real** boards instead of hanging round the tit and arse all the time for evidence.

Put money on google - I'd sooner eat it - digest it - and shit it out.

Google - dont make me laugh - please.

I know and that isn't a problem at all. What did become a problem was when members from Brazil would flood English language communitites and not communicate in English. I know there started to be a good number of Brazil specific communities but by not sort of setting up two tiers they killed off their English speaking/reading membership. Which is a shame because I liked Orkut a lot better than Myspace since for a while the general IQ was much higher and there were very few people under 20.
