So I decided that it was finally time to move over to revshare a bit. Choose a program, ( a big one and I'm not going to name it) sent a few signups... did the math and thought: wtf???

Advertising in huge letters: we pay 65%

Memberprice: $39.95
My 65%: 25,97
processing fee: 3,90
net pay:22,7

Uhmmm isn't that 57%

Don't get me started on crossells and upsells, easyclick sells, mailersales, calcelation sales etc which I get zip, zero, nothing for.

PMdave - it sounds like the old Bait and switch...

I would suggest you address it with them and i'm sure if the traffic is working for them it will be 65% ;-)

fyi - we payout 50% by default and upto 70% when your traffic kicks in..

I actually agree with you partially. Adult is without any doubt one of the highest paying businesses. Many mainstream firms are paying 2%-5%.
It's not so much about the 65%. It's about trust... tell me 65% and I expect 65%. If I get less I start thinking about upsells etc...

Well.. I actually DO think the webmasters are overpaid. Only since I figured out we've spent $ 25.000 for setting up a new paysite.

I think a 40% revshare is fair.. But that's just my modest opinion.

ok...you are getting paid 65% less processing fees of which 65% of the 14% processing fee is 9% hence your net percentage is 57%.

It is called revshare.

It sucks, when they don't mention this on the joining process(for webmasters)

We pay 50%, and it means when you sell a membership for 35, you get 17.50 no hidden fees.

Have to read their terms closely I guess.
This exact scenario is one of my personal pet peeves of some revshare programs. (Especially programs that offer more than 50%) ie: 60/40 etc etc.

We advertise a TRUE 50/50 and we pay the processing fees (12 - 14%)

Affiliates get 50% of the Gross membership cost.
Processer gets 12%-14%
We get the remaining 36% - 38%

Some people call this a 60/40 lol...............

Agree. And the math gets worse from there. After affiliate payouts, fees, credits, chargebacks, bandwidth, advertising, etc, you're lucky to see $8 from a $39.95 rebill. And then affiliates bitch about upsells...classic.

A decent sponsor works on the mass imho. (making less/signups, more signups)

Last time I checked, I have affiliates knocking my door down asking me to set them up with FREE hosting of which I do happily plus they want gallery templates, plus descriptions, more free content and on and on....so where are their costs again?

Depends on the company ...
We pay the processing fee, have no crossells, no mailers, etc....

So don't lump all the rev share companies into one category please! ; )

Out of my 30% I have to pay for content, hosting for everyone, office, design, editing, programming etc....

Here is an idea...outlay around 150k for a couple of exclusive sites and a program, give your affiliates a true 65% and call me in 6 months if you are still around, let me know how well you are doing. Revshare, PPS programs, shell out a lot of cash for affiliates.

apprently you feel attacked, what was in no way my intention. However my main question stays unanswered: how do you expect affiliates to trust a program that promises 65% and gives 57%. Give away all hosting and content you want: I never asked for it and never used it. So not really my problem.
Be onest who are your biggest affilates: the ones that sig up and start sending the signups or the ones that ask you for hosting, content and all the other bs alot of these so called webmasters ask for these days?
Move away from freehosting your affiliates and start a revshare hosting system for them. You host it they get a slightly lower payout.

I don't expect much from the select few sponsors I promote: pay me on time and be honest. That's all.

I do believe you have a point when you say who are my biggest affiliates. I know who they are and you are right they don't request for much but at the same time, I also contact them and give them a bump in percentage as well.
