I think everyone knows by now that human aggressiveness was deliberately bred out of Pit Bulls. It's not there unless someone puts it there. Anyone who doesn't know or pretends not to know that is either ignorant or trolling, and in neither case deserves a serious reply.

Also Pits do not have locking jaws. That's a myth. They're simply more tenacious by breed than any other dog and they're very good fighters.

They weren't 'bred to fight' unless you count treeing bears and chasing boars out of their den actual fighting. They were bred to help hunters. Hounds chased the prey down, Pits were then let out to eiteer drive it out of it's hole by going down in there with it and chasing it out, or to jump on the hunted animal and slow it down and drain it's energy when it would then be killed by the hunter. The fighting for show came later, in the middle ages.

Pits have historically been one of the most popular dogs in the world, particularly around the WWII period. They didn't start getting this bad rap until it became fashionable for gangsters to own them, and ANY breed of dog owned by that kind of person is going to be dangerous and wildly unpredictable. It's what their owners want them to be.

I tell you one thing if I raise my voice to my dog he shakes.. he knows who's boss... let me also tell you this.. and since your such a good googler I will let you search it to find I am right... in a 10 year study of 100 breeds of dogs a pitbull was 4th to bite a human.. yeah thast 4th from the last... the 2 most common dog bites come from cocker spanials and dalmations... so pitbulls reap 96th to bite a human.. german sheapord and golden were like 10th and 14th... it's all how you raise the dog... we used to breed rot's when I was growing up and never had an incedent... one of my good friends trains frisbie dogs and you know how he traines them? he beaths the shit outta them just like anyone should do to there dog...

all that shows is that a pit bull can kill if he attakcs.. yeah... those are all big dogs... I dunno abt y0ou but I fear little ancle biters more than big dogs and I have been bitten many times by little dogs... that does not show who bits humans the most only which can do the most damage... you can take 3 shots from a 38 special but only one shot from a 45 right? bigger the dog the bigger the bite but does not mean as often... that just shows death.. what about loosing a finger or a nose I had a buddy got his nose riped off by a cocker spanial... did not kill him but riped his nose off...

The CDC report, from what I've read, doesn't actually measure the frequency of bites per dog, it measures overall number of reported bites by breed. Considering the Pit is probably the most numerous breed of dog in the states, it's not surprising to see it at the top of the list.

Also it's smart to keep in mind that any and every dog that they can't pigeonhole into any other breed is automatically called a Pit as long as it's big and mean looking, and that the media focuses on Pits now just like they were focused on Doberman Pinschers in the 70's and early 80's.

A guy got bit by his neighbor's dog several times and couldn't get the cops or animal control to do anything about it. He finally got smart and said his neighbors had a PIT BULL that bit him (which it wasn't) and immediately not only the cops show up but also the media. Don't believe the hype.

Notice how they spice it up. Lassie would start looking for something to kill and eat after starving for a couple of weeks. I cut out the part where the reporter says the army was quaking in fear of the possibility of marauding bloodthirsty packs of Pit Bulls, because it was just too over the top.

Interesting how the bitch took a bullet in the head, took a moment to shrug it off and then went back into battle. THAT'S what makes the Pit a fighting dog, not the mythological locking jaw thing.

You're almost too stupid to argue with. Veterinarians, you know people who go to school for 4 years specifically about animals, will tell you time and time again that Pittbulls are not inherently dangerous. I'm sure you know best though, being as you have all that education and experience with dogs.

I'll try to educate you one more time on why those statistics are useless. First off, it's not Pittbulls but Pittbull and Pittbull like breeds at the top. That's right, it's a combination of breeds. Secondly, if you had the skills to actually do any research, you'd find out that the next most dangerous "breed" of dog is all mixed breeds put together.

Your own Statistics show that a poodle mixed with a sheltie is a more dangerous dog than a Rottweiler. See the flaw now, genius?
