Do you get jealous of people that come up with great ideas to make a bundle?

Do you get jealous? Or do you think 'Why didn't I come up with that?'

Think of the million dollar homepage, for instance.. Personally I think he got very very lucky, and I'm not even sure he's 100% original.

Or am I just jealous?

Jealous.
Thinking and doing are two different things.
You must admire the person who not only comes up with an idea but lays his proverbial balls on the block and does it.

A lot of the time, the people who come up with 'original' ideas and the people who make big money off those ideas are totally distinct populations. Xerox came up with the idea of the mouse. Apple was one of the first companies to offer an OS GUI. There's tons of examples......

Also, there's a new copy-cat site selling pixels for a quarter.

Yeah, I do. Then I think, hey I make a few Gs a day for years now, these guys are flashes in the pan.

Then I get mad again because I am not the flash in the pan as well.

I spent a few dozen years being insanely jealous of the fucker who invented the question mark.

Then I got over it and moved on.

Well, I think one should be. That's why it annoys me to see myself be jealous.

You can learn a lot from other people's success. Shows what's possible.

im not so much jealous of those who have new ideas. i have new ideas all the time, just no money to back them but what i am jealous of is people making mad bank doing this, like mr Bonghitta here when i've been banging my head against the wall for the past 2 years trying to achieve the same kind of success i had in my first few years in the biz.

Jealosy cripples some people and yet it fuels others. I for instance get insanly jealous but it only drives me to become better, others turn jeolousy into hate and produce nothing!

But that Million dollar home page baffles me

One of the stories that's told to all salesmen is the story of the guy who invented the plain paper copier. He hiked it around loads of companies including all the big copier companies and electrical ones. They were all using or selling wet copiers which were a real pain and expensive. They all turned him down saying there was no market for a plain paper copier.

He eventually ended up at Xerox who were a small company but recognised the worth of this invention. They bought the plans, copyrighted the process and employed one of the best sales teams ever formed. Five years later everyone had a Xerox machine in their office and the process of copying is known as Xeroxing.

It's not just about having an idea, it's about recognising it and knowing how to get the most out of it.

Remeber the record guy who turned down the Beatles?

I admire and respect the guys that think ahead, too many think back. In all fields.
