How the hell you gonna plow the fields and pull the hay wagon with that thing?

Shit man, nice wheels. i don't like yellow, but I do LOVE the car.

well. thats what i thought too. anyways, i dont think it would make any sense to keep telling you how bad this manufacturer is and what bricks of shit those cars are, because you wouldnt believe it. i didnt believe it either. sometimes you have to make your own experiences till you realize that all those things people told you before were true.

anyways, i still hope you are lucky with your Gallardo, although i dont think so.
i wish you the best of luck. you might need it.

I did hear about the software upgrades that were required on the early E-gears but again,I never was interested in that option. And I will absolutely mention it here if the car has any issues that the dealer won't graciously resolve.
It's my first go around with Italian and truthfully, without Audi's involvement in the Gallardo,i'd never have considered one.I have had years of good experiences driving German engineered cars, with the exception of Mercedes..but that's another topic.

well..the car is awd..so i might put on a set of knobbies and get the big trailor hitch for it.

gridtalker 09-23-2005 10:07 AM

Holy shit that car rocks.

Minte 09-23-2005 10:54 AM

I've learned one thing already about the Gallardo.
The Yellow is a lot easier to keep clean than my Arena Red Turbo.Drove it on wet roads today and it doesn't even look dirty! :)

In fact the plastics were analagous to those I've seen in recent Kia/Hyundais. The leather seats were similarly brutal, I don't know what animals they're sourcing the hides from but they're terrible. There was a large degree of chassis flex, and the steering felt vague during high speed cornering.

You should know more than most considering your garage that there's more to picking any car besides straightline speed, your comments come off as amatuer.

The Gallardo is a great car, Minte made the perfect choice for his needs: A more passionate 911. That's basically what the G is when it comes down to it. I love it, and feel it's a vastly underrated car. Comparing it to any Vette is laughable.

If he wasn't looking for opinions he wouldn't have posted the thread. Its not a maturity issue, I just personally don't like the car. My friends and I call it the gay-ardo, so that is what I called it in my post. Minte didn't take offense to it, it wasn't meant to be offensive.

Also, when I said status car, I didn't mean it didn't perform, Lambo's are GREAT status cars regardless of their performance. :)

Finally, the '06 Z06 does beat the Gay-ardo in performance without a doubt. Hell it beats its bigger brother the Murc...

0-60 in 3.5
0-100 in 7.9
0-150 in 15.7
1/4 mile in 11.5 @ 127

For $70,000 its without a doubt the absolute best performance car per dollar... There isn't a single arguement that can prove otherwise. :)

As far as nice status car? I totally disagree. The car performs, and it performs well.If I were interested in just a status car I'd have bought a 430.

BTW, I hope you know I wasn't trying to be offensive. Its a good car and you should be absolutely proud you can afford it and love cars enough to own several (we're in the same boat). I just do not like the car at all, however, did not want to take away anything from your accomplishment.

Yes, buying a car of that magnitude is absolutely an ACCOMPLISHMENT! :) So congrats on that...

MaDalton 09-23-2005 12:29 PM

i'd still prefer the 993 turbo - but that's maybe just me. one of the most beautiful cars ever built. i wouldn't drive any other car brand - i'm addicted... :upsidedow

but congrats on the addition though :thumbsup

No offense was taken..I get just as passionate about packers/lions! :)
As far as cars go...its a good time to be alive, considering all the great choices we have today. It's like the new Bangle line of BMW's.I don't like them at all.I've been driving bmws for nearly 15 years and have owned 4 of them. But until this new line evolves,my current M3 is the last one for me.

You have an impressive collection. Congrats!

Glad you clarified your comments Marc, and you're right the Z06 is a great performance bargain. But that's all it is. And I'm sure I don't need to tell you that any Lambo owner can easily buy a Z06 on a whim if he feels like it...yet none I know personally (over 100) have put a deposit down on a Z06. Not one.

Why is that do you think?

Because it's not all about speed. And it's not all about "status" either, as I'm sure your rebuttal would be quick to mention. To some the Gallardo offers "enough" performance, and looks the best to them. Part of owning an exotic is enjoying what it looks like, its shape. They become rolling works of art to their owners. No Vette is rolling work of art, though the C6 does look much improved over the C5.

Different strokes for different folks. I have a buddy who's having his Gallardo buffed up via twin turbos from Jason Heffner's shop (popular Viper tuner), and I'm sure he won't be too worried about any Z06 being faster than his car. :)

Different strokes for different folks.

This ridiculousness could go on forever. Glad to know you know 100 Ghey-r-doh owners, I'm lucky if I know 100 people. Mighty impressive :)

My Daddy can beat up your Daddy, and if your Daddy starts taking roids, my Daddy can start taking roids too. BLAH BLAH BLAH!

I'm going to start a pissing match over this... No shit it comes down to personal taste. Frankly I think the Z06 looks WAYYYY Better than the Ghey-r-doh and I know 10 people who don't own one who does as well ROFLMAO!

Well..we have the state of Michigan! I drove from Madison to Flint(422miles) a few weeks ago and made it in 5hours 20 minutes..and that was going around Chicago and it's tollbooths. All the way through Michigan, there and back I averaged about 95.I have a valentine one and it never went off once the entire trip.Only saw 2 state troopers.

I co-founded lambo-power.com, it's currently the net's largest single Lamborghini owner meeting spot, you're welcome to join the community. There are well over 100 owners participating there, I rounded down because I don't know the total.

It has nothing to do with "ridiculousness", it has to do with you coming out of left field, insulting the intelligence of every Gallardo owner with your childish insults (what are you 12 Mark? With your money you can't act more maturely when you want to make a point?) and then getting upset that no one agrees with you.

Call it "gay-ardo" "ghey-r-do", whatever you like, but at the end of the day, no G owner is trading their car for the "much faster" Z06. That's my point. Where you're getting all this my-day-can-beat-up-your-dad shit I don't know.

they fuck you in the ass without protection over here when they find a radar detector - costs a shitload of money and some points in your register.

i had a blast yesterday - driving through Czech Rep. - lots of small and winding roads - was really exhausted at the end. and if they ever get you there it's like 30 bucks cash - and they are happy. :winkwink:

If they ever outlawed detectors here I'd probably end up having to walk or ride a bike.Local county sheriffs are terrible here with radar. They know every sneaky hiding place there is and help balance the fiscal budget writing tickets.
Here a 20mph over the limit will set you back about $200..for the first offense.

I'm enjoying this more then any of you know.
I don't own either the corvette (My ultimate dream car being a 69 vette black with hot-rod parts) or a lambo, I can't afford to own a lambo and to be honest I'd buy a house or two condominiums before i bought anything else remotely that expensive.
That being said, both cars are amazing, if anything because they outperform the car I currently own (Vtec 2005 Civic EX) and most likely any car most will ever own. It's a joy to drive I'm sure and I'm happy for you.

Marc you own a murc... that in my opinion is the pinnacle of engineering,I was only priveledged enough to Ride in one, but I can tell you all it was a blast. Why don't you both get together and drive a couple miles side by side and changing leads... that'd be cool to see on the highway.

lol easy Marc, it's just a car. We're allowed to have differing opinions, just because mine doesn't agree with yours is no reason to bust out the CAPS, and DONE and ROFLMAO nonsense. :winkwink:

Why must GFY always go down that route, so tough to have a debate that's civil.

Regardless, I'll keep it above the belt as I have from the start, and say that the Z06 is great car for the money, but not a car I'd own over a Gallardo regardless of speed differences. To each his own.

Congrats again to Minte, everyone at L-Power is very happy for you and glad you're a part of our online community. :thumbsup

Or...Chevy has raised the bar.

And So has Ford.I haven't driven one,but I got a chance to really look over the Ford GT and I was impressed with the craftsmanship on the car. It's a bit radical for my tastes, but the fit and finish on it was superb.

I like the GT, the two I've seen first hand were both solid. Well built, no obvious flaws, panel alignment was sharp, etc.

They've had trouble on the line however, a few heavy engine recalls (one so bad they instructed owners not to drive the car under ANY circumstances, sending out flatbeds for each of them), and Saleen has fired two of his VPs over issues related to quality since the car went into production.

I wouldn't hesitate to own one though once the bugs are worked out, seems like a winner.

They recalled all of the Ford GTs because they didnt meet child restraining specification for the front passenger seat haha.

I live in Dearborn (Ford World Headquarters is a few minutes away) and I see a lot of GTs. They look damn cool in motion on the road.

Good thing Marc's not a ferrari owner.It would've been a bloodbath.

I'm still to new in Lambo ownership to really understand why the ferrari guys and the Lambo guys hate each other so badly.
