Rita's barometric pressure is now approaching record low levels. The record low pressure is 892.3 mb for The US during the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane.

"Rita's pressure has dramatically dropped to 898 millibars! Even as a large and extremely intense category 5 hurricane, further strengthening is possible as the atmosphere remains favorable for development over the next 24 hours."

It's predicted to be over 100 mph winds where I am. I am going to be in the nice little "orange red zone" that they were showing on the news. They do run thru the alphabet. There has just been a lot of tropical storms out there, most not being a problem. Chances are they will reach Z, then names continue but along the lines of alpha, beta, charlie, delta blah for the rest of the season.
