Hurricane Rita - 165 mph winds, 904 mb pressure

Yikes, I'd start running if i lived there. Hopefully it goes through an eye wall cycle before landfall. :helpme

smack 09-21-2005 04:25 PM

it's been a hell of a hurricane season in the gulf.

Paul Waters 09-21-2005 05:36 PM

CNN is all over this. Looks like the evacuations are going well.

Global warming is a bitch. Pretty soon this will be considered normal.

Rita's barometric pressure is now approaching record low levels. The record low pressure is 892.3 mb for The US during the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane.

"Rita's pressure has dramatically dropped to 898 millibars! Even as a large and extremely intense category 5 hurricane, further strengthening is possible as the atmosphere remains favorable for development over the next 24 hours."

John69 09-21-2005 07:08 PM

below 900 is some real scray stuff!

Webby 09-21-2005 08:03 PM

Bush and God (in order of importance) organized this shit just to divert attention from Iraq.

Or maybe God is just getting well pissed and balancing up George's "life games".

This has nothing to do with 'global warming' ... this is just the natural cycle of hurricanes every 40-50 years.

It's predicted to be over 100 mph winds where I am. I am going to be in the nice little "orange red zone" that they were showing on the news. It's a long story but I couldn't leave and i definitely can't leave now either. If anyone else is in houston area needs a friend to talk to or just wants to talk, pm me. I'll probably be up stressing all night.

Gotta board up the windows tommorrow. It sucks.

Who is ready for $5 a gallon gasoline....? GWB's buds are smiling in the wings,....BONUS: a government bailout for repairs and upgrades to their beach houses and refineries.

They do run thru the alphabet. There has just been a lot of tropical storms out there, most not being a problem. Chances are they will reach Z, then names continue but along the lines of alpha, beta, charlie, delta blah for the rest of the season.

Sadly it will.. and it sure ain't looking good at the moment. Depending where it hits, it could be far worse than Katrina. Well worth getting the hell outta that area asap.
