You live in Central Texas? 200 miles in? I think you're safe. That seems like they are being a little too cautious.

200 miles?

I hate to be in the minority but man, that seems fine to me. I can't believe a sherrif came knocking 200 miles inland on a storm 72 hours out. How far are you supposed to go inland? Oklahoma?

Let me know if you need a place to stay in California haha

You are right about better safe than sorry, but damn, what should coastal residents do? Go 500 miles inland?

Better safe than sorry though, no doubt.

My ex was from Galveston and I met several of her friends that moved 100 miles away from home just to get to higher ground.

I think 200 miles should be good to go. You might get rain and wind, but I have never heard of a hurricane that far inland. . . . . now, a tornado is another thing.

that is my thinking
these type of storms brew tornados like crazy

high winds and a good rain thru this area will kill us

I am on your team. Unless he is in a flood zone, 200 miles is good to go.

Another thing, I can almost guarantee it does not follow course. Watch that high-pressure system, it will move.

All the same, stay safe Chris and do as they tell you.

Do what you have to Chris.. My mom is just outside Galveston. They are evacuating Galveston tomorrow and her town that's about ten miles inland Thursday morning about 2 a.m. I think she's coming up to my house since there won't be a hotel room to be found anywhere in Texas. An 8 hour drive won't be too bad for her...
