Do you prefer LCD over CRT monitor?

Other than the fact that LCD monitors take less space, why do you prefer them?

LCDs are better for web, but if you do any print or heavy color management, CRTs are still the best for that.

LCD is easier on my eyes, being that I wear contacts, so thats a biggie for me. Picked up a Samsung 930b recently(19in).

LCD is much easier on the eyes than a CRT - even a good one. After 12 hours of staring at a CRT, it feels like my eyes are melting and gives me bad headaches. Definately go with an LCD if you are getting a new monitor.

I experienced the exact opposite. I bought a 18" Sony LCD flatscreen and that thing burned my eyes out of it's sockets. I adjusted the settings forever and even called their tech support which was worthless.

I sold it on eBay and bought myself a 21" Sony CRT monitor and I have now regained my eyesight.

lcd's are sharper and more vibrant. And before you say it i have two 21" Sony Trinitrons (that set me back more than 5x19" LCD's) and i still think that... maybe they're getting a little long in the tooth or whatever but still.

I love my Dell 24" and 20" widescreens. CRTs used to give me terrible headaches. That stopped when I switched to LCD.

LCD's are sharper and more vivid than CRT's.

IBM's T221 reaches 204 PPI, dot pitch of .12mm and displays up to 3840 x 2400 QUXGA mode with 9.2 million total pixels. About $8,000.

No CRT can touch that.

To me an LCD is much better for text "crispness" for reading etc. that's where you need it most IMO.

not only takes up less space but also puts out much less HEAT and uses way less power.

My reasons have been spelled out by the posts above but one added advantage is that there is a PSYCHOLOGICAL bonus having a flat screen. It 'looks' more efficient and influences your productivity. I have noticed a SIGNIFICANT uptick in productivity when I swapped out a few of my employees' CRTs for flatscreens.

LCD...

Easier to read off of.
Bright without fading the picture to get that bright.
True colors.
True perception of the image.
Dramatically less eye strain.

Isn't there also less EMR? or low frequency radiation or something? I know this 19" LCD HAS to be better than staring down the cathode ray barrel of a 21" CRT all day.

I have dual monitors.. one LCD and one CRT, I have the CRT for the fact tht the pixel clarity is ALOT better.. when I do graphical work I cannot see the pixels as well on the LCD.. so I need the crt.. wish that I could just have the lcds though, as they look alot nicer...

My employees have lcd's only on their desks..

but btw. it REALLY depends on the CONTRAST of the LCDs. I guess the more contrast - the better. The TFTs over here are 800:1 and that`s great if you work all day long in front of them..
