Ducks 'die in massive pain'

"There is food spilling from the nostrils of these poor animals, who choke to death. As the [enlarged] liver fails, they develop a brain condition. You will see birds having seizures or in comas still being grabbed and force-fed. The liver is so expanded that, when the handlers put too much pressure on their abdomens, the livers may simply rupture and they die in massive pain and discomfort from internal hemorrhage," Cheever said.

I had this for dinner a couple weeks ago...

Filet Mignon with Coffee Cocoa demi topped with Sauteed Foie Gras

I try not to think about veal and foie gras production. I tried not to read the top of this thread. I may not be eating it again for a while.....

I'd also like to point out, this thread isn't getting alot of views, or posts.

My guess is that most of GFY have no idea what Foie Gras is, let alone tasted it, as it is exspensive.

I knew of the treatment of overeating before I had my first Foie Gras. After my first dish of it, I reordered another one. It never passed through my head again, till now.

I think I"m going to find a nice French place tonight to get some.

i am french i saw how they make the foie gras and was like every meat ... actually animals dies to feed us :-) don't eat pork, beef, etc. if you want.

I really wish I could go vegi or at least not eat stuff like Foie Gras - but I cant - I hate what we do to them but I just love it too much.

I did actually go Vege for a few months when I was about 11 - my mum got sick of cooking 2 meals so she dragged me to McD's and that was the end of that. She is a wise woman.

from their menu's here in Holland. I still love it though..... on truffel with a current

Take a step down from that horse you're on toots. It's the process that should be banned plane and simple. If you have to get your food via this process then that is fucked up. I am sure that there are more humane ways of getting what you want. Now tell me mister know it all, just exactly what do they do to chickens and veal...this ought to be interesting. And no posting of the KFC chicken farms, we've all heard about that.

I was under the impression that 4 stars was the highest rating michelin gave in Europe. Like I said earlier, never been to one, so no examples.

I've never seen a Michelin rating for any restaurants here in the US or Canada. However, have had Foie Gras in both countries. I would rate the best of them that I have been on a scale of 1 to 4, 4's.

There is no 4 star. And foie gras in the US is duck. You should stick to macd.
