RAM memory in slots 1 and 3

after an OS is installed, if you slip ram into slots 1 and 3, will that cause the PC to malfunction? I have 2 - 1 gig sticks.

I had gig sticks in slots in 1 and 2, the pc was rebooting, it was a RAM issue. Ran mem test, got errors right away. I pulled the ram in slot 2 out, ran mem test, it passed fine. took it out, put the other ram in slot 1, ran the test - and it came out fine too...

any ideas, what started it was my pc was just randomly rebooting every few hours. i turned off restarts on system failure and woke up to a blue screen of death with this error: "page_default_in_nonpaged_area"

thinking about putting it in slots 1 and 3, but before when i first built it, i had this set up and it wasnt allowing me to install windows until it was in order..

hummm, shouldn't really matter..
additionally, new computers/ram run in dual channel where they REQUIRE being in slots 1&3 with 2 chips, and then 2&4 if you have 4 chips

Depending on the board mfr they usually recommend specific slots. Should be in your manual.
