There are Billions to be made in the rebuiding of New Orleans.
The poor residents have been evacuated and their houses destroyed. No hassels at all. It is a capitalist developers dream. Those with Bush/Chenney connections will make huge money.

They're also wanting to waive the minimum wage laws with the reconstruction.. so they can get dirt cheap labor...
Sept. 9?With the federal government poised to spend more than $50 billion to rebuild areas destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, the AFL-CIO is calling on Congress to reverse President George W. Bush?s Sept. 8 executive order that would allow contractors to pay substandard wages to construction workers in the affected areas. AFL-CIO News and.. I heard on the news that they want to remove the cap for construction costs... so.. Chaney & co. will do quite well I'm sure.. |

What do you expect. The government is controlled by corrupt politicians who are controlled by multi-national corporations and the ultra rich.
You could see the writing on the wall when they asked for EPA standards to be lifted, the minimum wage to be removed, and a "no bid" contract process to be allowed. The elite see this as a financial bonanza compared to the poor folks who got the disaster. Why do you think Houston took so many folks? That's Haliburton country and they had open arms. Who do you think got the feed the 250,000 poor folks contract from FEMA?

Why would they want minimum wage requirements removed? The only people who'd take the jobs after that would be illegal Mexicans. Maybe that's their goal. Then they'll say it was a job no American wanted.
