On Next Thursday, September 15th, ICANN is reconsidering the XXX TLD.
If you want to take a chance on being controlled by a bunch of money-grubbing, private interests who want to "regulate our industry" for their purposes, then don't take the 2 minutes to send a letter. After all, you are sooooo busy here on GFY that you really don't have the time...and you trust them to do the "right" thing. Yeah, right for who?? These "private interest" say they represent the Industry; but, I somehow missed the voting...... Join your fellow webmasters and show ICANN that the money-boys behind the .XXX TLD don't represent you! FSC Announces Letter-Writing Campaign in Opposition to .XXX TLD Canoga Park, Ca. ? The Free Speech Coalition is commencing a letter-writing campaign in opposition to the creation of a .XXX top-level domain. A pre-written letter is available on the Free Speech Coalition Website, at www.freespeechcoalition.com/xinfo.htm, where one can go to simply fill in a few fields of information and send the letter off, make changes to the letter, or write a completely new one. Letters will be emailed to the Free Speech Coalition, where they will be gathered and presented to ICANN later this month. For maximum impact, we are collecting the letters themselves. The Free Speech Coalition has already contacted ICANN officials on several occasions over the past weeks and months, to express our opposition to the creation of .XXX itself, and to restate our concerns regarding the legitimacy of the application submitted to ICANN by ICM Registry to create and run .XXX. We will continue to press our case up to and after the upcoming September 15 ICANN meeting, when the issue of the approval of .XXX is scheduled to be revisited. We ask any and all members of the adult entertainment community who believe, as we do, that .XXX is a bad idea that will not work, to visit our site and take 60 seconds to register your opposition. We understand that other people and petitions are out there, sending letters and gathering names, and we certainly applaud those efforts. In fact, if anyone has already signed up at http://www.fightthedotxxx.com/, there is no need to duplicate the effort here. But if you have yet to register your opinion, it certainly is not too late to do so. It is important to let ICANN know that responsible adult webmasters already exist, and that we resent the implication that adult websites that do not purchase and abide by mandatory .XXX policies are by definition irresponsible. Fight dot XXX! Free Speech Coalition is the trade organization of the adult entertainment industry. Its mission is to safeguard the industry from oppressive governmental regulation and to promote good business practices within the industry. # # # |

It should be VERY interesting how First Amendment issues hold up once the two vacancies on the Supreme Court are filled.
