Idiots raping profitable resources and costing all of us money. Thoughts?

Anybody with a have decent idea to generate surfer traffic shouldnt be allowed to breath oxygen if they think for one second it's a good idea to share that kind of information on a board like this.

Why? For example, some webmaster shares his new little idea or success on a this board or one just like it and the very next day a million half ass crappy versions of that idea pop up and the resource is pretty much raped to the point where there's little value in it.

The blog idea was great, and still is. But there's way too many idiots with the worst kind of taste and/or understanding of half-decent marketing to make any real sale at all. They need to be shot dead.

This industry is flooded with too many morons who don't know the difference between night and day, etc. and all that they're doing and wasting valuable resources with crap that only pushes the surfers further away from being a conversion in any niche, site, product, etc. at all.

We should really some how come up with a way to clean up things a bit.

Kind of like what cities and communities are trying to do about removing crackheads from various parts where business ventures are trying to conduct actual business.

Setting up homeless shelters with poisoned food is more effective but that's going to take about 10 more years before we start noticing improvement

if you're going to be making your money online, you have to accept the fact that the barrier to entry is very low. if your business model depends on 'people not talking about it', you're in for a rough ride, as information wants to be free. this isn't like building a factory where it takes millions in capital to startup. you just need to keep innovating

That's true, but what I'm suggesting is that program owners and webmasters start keeping a closer eye on who they're working with. Bad-taste webmasters, which I'd like to refer to them as, don't just flood the internet with garbage; they also are a potential risk of making a bad name for whoever they're promoting.

bad name? dude, this is porn. you think this industry has anything BUT a 'bad name'? program owners want sales. that's it. show me a program owner that will shitcan a 'bad taste webmaster who's clocking sales, and I'll show you the easter bunny. what is it you're really worried about? maybe i misunderstood your initial post, but I thought you were worried about people talking about how to make money online and thereby generating more competition.

this happens in every industry. you think GM and Ford were the only auto manufacturers back in the day? there were 100s of them back when america was riding the industrial wave. you think google was one of the first search engines? remember excite, alta vista and webcrawler? ideas don't mean shit - it's execution and understanding how to corner a market.

I was talking about people taking good ideas and ruining the value of them in general by making the balance between garbage sites and profitable sites lean more towards garbage sites. When I say ruining the value, I mean that for every good site that collects traffic there's 10,000x more garbage rip off versions of that site done the wrong way ruining the value by polluting search engines and link lists making that 'idea' and/or site less profitable.

Sure! The slight difference about "adult" is that those within the biz then fuck their own market. This is not new in "adult internet" - it was the same before the net was commercial. If ever there was an industry that keeps shooting itself in the foot - it's gotta be this one!

well that's the problem with an industry with a low barrier to entry. it's easy as fuck to get online and start trying to make money online. but that just breeds more innovation, man. as innovation turns into commoditization, ambitious people will push the boundaries and come up with new, better ideas. that's why capitalism works - you HAVE to keep innovating to stay alive.

It's not a threat. There's no real competition involved in this whole subject at all. It's just a waste of market space, bandwidth and resources.

Innovation is the key to success in any industry. It's just a shame that so many innovations are destroyed so quickly, more so than they should be, in this industry than any other.

I agree with some of that. However, if anything is pushing surfers away from joining paysites, it's the paysites that charge $39.95 per month, and have 2 prechecked cross-sells on their join page. Usually one cross-sell which will rebill at $34.95/month, and the other at $24.95/month. Basically, the surfer thinks he's joining 1 paysite and then after 3 days sees a $100 charge on his credit card. After an experience like that, most surfers develop an aversion towards paysites.

Especially when those innovations are profitable for everyone in the industry. But that's where things go wrong, when it's profitable for everyone -- everyone is going to try to bite into it. And a lot of times, there's going to be way too many people going at it wrong.

well again, it's barrier to entry. in the industrial age, you needed big time bank to start. you had to build a big ass factory, get raw materials, workers etc etc. now, all you need is Internet access. it's ridiculously easy to get started online. but i argue that that's GOOD for the industry as a whole. it forces people to keep coming up with new, better ideas.

I used to worry about this more often as you appear to be doing now...

this helps me remained focus and not sweat it much as I know for sure it's pretty accurate...

******* You can tell EVERYONE EVERYTHING you know about marketing, making money, etc...only a percentage of them will remember something and and EVEN SMALLER percentage will remember it long enough to ATTEMPT to do something with it....then add in that fact that only a small percentage of those that ACTUALLY try to do something with what you tell them will become successful at it and really it's a VERY VERY tiny percentage that are going to be players in the area that you were banging....and guess what?

that 1-2% of 'with it' people would have found out that shit they're banging with or without YOU mentioning it, cuz they are information diggers and results producers...

don't sweat shit too hard...there is an ocean of cash to be had

keep finding new fish to catch and new ponds to fish in...

I used to think so many people in this business believe it pays to pull tricks that they wouldn't tolerate themselves, because they didn't credit that we would be around long enough to matter. But that excuse doesn't work too well after almost 10 years.

The only consolation is that although the majority are still chasing the quick buck regardless of cost, quite a few of the original champions of that attitude are fast becoming footnotes in the industry. Against that, the same (few) names come up every time there is a thread about quality, ethics, or whatever and eventually it may sink in that these sponsors go on performing consistently year after year.

that's because people are too lazy to actually do real benchmarking when it comes to stuff like this. most people got the wrong idea about blogs and think they're going to get rich.

blog traffic that converts doesn't come from blogs with pictures or some lame attempt to emulate the perspective of the surfer.

you need non-adult orientated informative blogs covering all kinds of subjects. for example: a golf blog, a fan-site blog, etc. shit like that normal people surf for. after you collect that kind of traffic, if you have the brains, you can slowly filter it into your adult sites and then convert it from there.

Instead of bitching about someone not knowing what they are doing, how about you teach them the RIGHT way to market their idea, so they can make money from it and you will have peace of mind.

Sounds good to me.
