WHY are there different spellings of "Kaballah?"

cabaleh, caballah, cabeleh, kaballah - wht is the right spelling of this term?

Seems a tad bit esoteric to me. Word up.

The different spellings represent different regions and periods of literature.

This particular form of Jewish mysticism has appeared and reappeared in europe since the 1200s, (possibly earlier, but it first appears in the literature at that time) and has been mixed with many other mystical traditions over time.

So, you get Kabbalah, Quabalah, Cabala, (the three most commonly seen spellings) and the other common variations.

Cabala is usually regarded as a Christian variant, rarely used by Jews, usually used in systems where Kabbalah has been mixed with Christian mysticism.

It's a very complicated and involved history.
