if you are a company that writes software, what market would you write it for 3% or the 97% of the market.
back in the 1980's I helped with some process control software and doing a version for Apple didn't even enter the picture. if I was a designer I might use one but can't think of any other reason.. Apple was smart in the early days, giving away computers 2 schools. |

Im gonna weigh in here....there is no software that I wish I have that I dont have with MAC...so that argument is bullshit...We do not even own a PC here...all MACS...I have virtual PC on one computer and its just so the owner can play party poker...I never break down...dont get virus...dont get fatal errors...shit just works...like the energizer rabbit
|
i use both, i like both
but i prefer the pc over the mac...i can do so much more, mainly cause I know it but I like them both for their own reasons |

I don't want to hear the "no virus" crap. Of coure you don't get virus because what retarded hacker is going to waste time on the 3% of Mac owners? The person that writes a Mac virus will get laughed out of the hacker community. Same thing with FireFox lovers. They said the same crap. Now that they are getting more popular, guess what, hackers are writing virus for them. Hmmm funny how that works. If Macs even got to be 10% of the market you would start to see viruses for them. Macs not getting viruses have NOTHING to do with it being a "better" product" and everything to do with hackers being pragmatic. |
oh, and yeah, the parts issue
when I want something for my pc, i go onto www.pricewatch.com and find it for damn near wholesale cost....and I use a LOT of pc parts |
Honnestly this "Mac is better than PC" is like saying my dad can beat up your dad. NOBODY CARES.
People don't buy Macs for many reasons. First being cost. It just does NOT make sense to spend that much money on something a PC can do just fine. Then there's the falacy that macs are more stable. Nope. A pc is just as stable. It's just a matter of what the end user loads on the PC. I've been in win2k for a long time... no complaints aside from typical stuff liek data coruption over time which even a Mac is able to succumb to. Enjoy your false sense of being better than every one because you have a mac. |

gatorb, your argument might be spot on if you reworded the part where hackers make viruses.

A new two button mouse for the Mac is great. But now add some reasonable functionality to that right button and I'm all over it.

You're a grumpy, grumpy poster but totally right here.
All OS' have vulnerabilities - just windows gets exploited more because it's more prevalent. Being more prevalent means it's a bigger payoff to exploit. Just reading the topics in Phrack will let you know nothing is safe from breakdown (yea, I only partially understand the table of contents on that site). Quote:

wanna concentrate on your work and are willing to compromise configurability?-----MAC
Wanna be able to tweak every little thing in your machine and want the best compatibility for software?-------PC End of story. This is old drama....some like black dresses, others prefer white..as simple as that...this has been talked over a bazillion times.... |
So thats what gets GFY horny, huh? Computer talk. MMMMM sexy. :1orglaugh
