I've decided that the best way for me to find the best girls I want for my upcoming paysites is to find and shoot them myself.

So I ask you,
what is a good camera to use? Is a 5 megapixel camera sufficient?
Such as this one

What might I do about lighting? Should I buy some special lighting equipment for indoor shoots? Where might I look?

Any other tips I should consider?

go to amazon.com and do a search for photography. i'm sure there are a lot of books there you can read about it that will help you.

truth is a chimpanzee can make half way decent pix with today's crop of consumer digicams.

yes, of course 5megapixal cams are ok.

but what will make surfers pull out their credit cards and join a paysite is not the photography hardware, but the shooter's imagination.

in the case of sun, and i'm outside, i prefer to keep it to the model's back (so she's not squinting, and it makes a good 'rimlight' on her hair/body), and reflect it back towards her

Okay here is a tip, always get a signed model release and 2257 info (depending upon what you are shooting). Everything else is pretty much subjective.

Want the paysite to makeit?

Hire AaronM or some his equal to shoot for you. Get them to let you go on the shoot (suckup real hard to get that done). Just watch and learn. Let him do his job. After awhile, maybe three shoots, ask questions afterwords.

Buy a book.

Take a course.

If you can buy it at Best Buy, you're not gonna look like a pro. Looking like a pro is half the deal.

Why not hire a photographer?

Well, I keep getting emails from people wanting $10,000 and they only have chubby or nasty girls to work with.

Why pay someone $5,000 to do what I can for $500-$1000?

Maybe if photographers were a little more realistic people like me would be more than happy to hire them. I'm new to this and I don't have tens of thousands to throw around. I have to be smart with what I have so that it multiplies.

If a photographer were really smart, he would be offering me a sweetheart deal and busting his ass to ensure I get good quality material so that when I begin making money I'm paying him whats he worth for 10 or 15 different sites.

It's all good though, I already have two super hot models wanting to work, one of whom I've worked with before for something else. It will take me some time to learn, but once I get the hang of it, there will be no stopping me.

Everyone told me my Jeans site would fail. That was over a year ago. It's making 4 figures a month, dozens of other sites are starting to pop up trying to copy me and more network owners are making sure jeans are a part of their galleries.

Overall, give me time. I'll be coming out with some killer sites soon.

i've seen sites with lower quality photos than the pics taken with those 5 megapixel megazoom cameras make it. on the other hand, it depends on niche, as well as your skill.

and yes, you need lights if you're shooting indoors. i mostly shoot video, so i use continuous lighting, but you can find some nice inexpensive strobe OR tungsten kits at http://www.bhphotovideo.com/

and for the people who tell you it can't be done, i am shooting video with only $400 worth of lights, and a camcorder that run under a thousand, and the video looks better than almost any porn video i've ever seen.

my advice to anyone who's starting now - experiment. don't wait till you have a model in front of you to get out your new lights and camera!!!! light a chair, light the room, practice and then practice some more. i lit my fiance, my son, my cats - indoors, outdoors, in all conditions. by the time i did my first shoot, everything was controlled and the shoot looked great - even though i almost died of stage fright *LOL*

If the photographer is smart and worth a shit then he will be charging top dollar for his stuff and be booked so full that he needs to hire other photographers and/or subcontract some of the work out to handle his clients needs.

A stupid or starving photographer will do what you are suggesting.

FYI, I'm a smart photographer.

Stupid photographers don't live the lifestyle that I live.

First of all, how much are you looking to spend for your equipment? 1k$? 10k$?

Now,

Digital Photography for dummies :

- Lighting the subject : For the amateur learner, 4 point lighting is the best and safest technique to use. What is 4 point Lighting?

Point 1 : Light the background

Point 2 : Use a backlight (light placed behind your subject) to create a rim of light to seperate your subject from the background

Point 3 : Use a KEY light to light your subject. This key light will determine the mood of your shot. The key light can be placed anywhere, but must shine upon your subject. This creates shadows and constrats.

Point 4 : The fill light. This light is used to fill in the dark and ugly shadows caused by your key light.

Now, shooting. Learn about shutter speeds and F-Stops... but then again, if you're using a Digicam, you're basically in Idiot Proof mode.... so skip that.

- If shooting your model up close, don't forget to turn on Macro mode to capture details and avoid bluriness.

- Buy flash bulbs for your lighting. Use diffusers to avoid having harsh light reflected on your subject. Don't be afraid to use bounce cards to capture more subtle lights, etc.

- Photography is all about framing and lighting. Learn to play with lighting to create interesting shadows, etc. Now learn to frame your subject to create different expressions. Ex : Frame your subjects face to capture an intense emotion. Framing is an art. It can be taught... but not in this short tutorial for dummies.

i'm a beginner, and i use 4 point lighting - two 500 watt tungstens up top with shoot-through umbrellas, and two foot lights of 150 or 250 watts, depending on how much light i'm looking for. i haven't had any dark or ugly shadows to fill, but then i have a very controlled area i shoot in unless i'm outdoors.
