For me invisionboard is better than phpbb.But most prefr phpbb.

Of the two choices, definitely PhpBB over Invision. With that said, make sure you always check for security updates and do updates fast; then you'll not have any problems.

phpbb is gree, invision isn't.

If you are going to pay, why not get vbulletin which is better then both of those.
