Fuckin A, my WHOLE system crashed.
Started acting weird last night, but I thought it was just my icq fucking up, because it's been doing that every now and then lately. Didn't get a chance to back anything up.
The only good thing is it gave me a chance to install the extra memory I picked up. Sooooo, I have to find all my passwords again for all my sponsors, boards, messengers, etc, etc. I have to download and/or reinstall all of my goodies. I lost all the work I had done for Chaldoray and Maria, so I'll have to get working on that all over again, once I have my software all set up. Thank god I have my email client set to leave my mail on the server until I go in and delete it, because I've been working on big stuff for StudioXclusive and I needed those emails. Ah, well. Pain in the ass, but not so bad in the grand scheme of things. |

On the bright side, when it happens you get a fresh system again.

After experiencing something similiar, I went to a setup where I have my OS and applications on one drive, and all my data stored on a RAID mirror. It only takes a few extra hard drives and a cheap ATA raid card. All told it's less than $400 to get going. I realize I don't know the specifics of your situation or if this would have helped, but it's something to consider in the future.

Get yourself an extra HDD chase and install it in your box. Keep everything important there and run your OS from the main one. |
