Will other countries come to our aid with Katrina?

It seems like every time there is a big natural disaster abroad ? the USA is right there for aid. Do we see any foreign courtiers stepping up to help us with the largest natural disaster ever in the U.S.?

It would be nice to see, but I doubt it will happen.

Maybe the Saudis will lend a hand and give us a break on oil.

Yeah, right! Hahaha.

I think allot of it is media as well. You never see as much humanitarian media coverage in countries like the US, England, Canada and such because the human impact inset the same as a third world nation where the death tolls are huge. Now thats not to say its not there but if 5000 people died in the US in lets say a mudslide but 150 000 died in china from an earthquake at the same time which one is going to get more media coverage or aid. And the same would apply to Canada as well.

The impact of these types of events on a richer nation is much different then say a 3rd world nation. They don?t have the same abilities to deal with natural disasters on the same level our nations do.

It sure would be nice to see some help coming from all these countries we always bail out, but I really doubt it will happen.
Maybe it's time for this country to get priorities straight and take care of ourselves FIRST! Everyone else will just have to finn for themselves.

I would not give a dime to the fucking Red Cross. Remember the 9/11 fund that was suppose to go to the victums and their families, well the Red Cross built 3 corporate high rise offices across America with a good portion of the funds they collected.
I say fuck the Red Cross. I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire.

I was thinking the exact same thing last night.

Let the exact same thing happen else where and the US would be expected to give aid.

venezuela has ffered us free food, oil and supplies for a while to help out. 25% of this country's oil production is halted, 98% of gulph oil operations are down, 88% of gulph natural gas operations are down as well. Pipeline is all fucked up too

Firstly, it just happened and secondly having people ready to go help save lives and clean up seems like something nice to do but again why should anyone help anyone that not only isn't grateful but slaps you in the face when you offer the help.

Vancouver news today:

Locals ready to help US
August 31, 2005 - 7:47 am
By: Andrea Bak/Global

Some locals may be headed down to Baton Rouge to help search for survivors of Hurricane Katrina. Tim Armstrong from Vancouver Urban Search and Rescue says his team can help in a number of ways. They have a water rescue team, canine search units and a structural triage. Armstrong and his team are ready to go, they are just waiting for the request from the US.

You do have a point, but remember that most of the 3rd world countries are that way by choice.

I would think with all the money and resources the US goberment takes or buys (steals) from other countries they should be able to manage.
Have all the pricks in washington take a pay cut and use that money to help all those people.

Actually no, and I am sorry if I offended you in any way and we Americans do appreciate the people that will contribute and help in some way.

I am sick and tired of us always bailing out other countries (with our hard earned tax money) and they spit in our face.
They sure love our "MONEY" but they hate us. Its time for this government to start to take care of it's own.
If it wasn't for all us hard working tax paying citizens, their would not be any relief for anyone...just my

Well, except that the people/nations offering help aren't spitting in your face - they are trying to help. Yet, the kind of hateful stuff being thrown in their direction right now makes me wonder why.

Well I guess we will see in the end, who is compasionate, who is not and who contributes that said they would. It is a fact that we do help many nations, but yet they seem to find the heart to still hate us and I have had my fill of it.

I don't beleive I said anything hateful...except for the Red Cross and I will say it again..fuck the Red Cross

As a tax payer of this country I have a right to be pissed when we as American's can barely afford to put food on the table and pay all the bills, but yet we have keep supporting other people who smile, take the money and then, so to speak..spit in our faces....[ I guess I should have stated it this way to start ].

Again as I said prior, we do appreciate the nations that help and want to contribute to this terrible situation and I personally am very appreciative for the efforts.

Canadian relief agencies have moved to help the U.S. states hit by Hurricane Katrina.

Winnipeg-based Mennonite Disaster Service said Wednesday it is gathering donations to help send hundreds of volunteers to rebuild homes.

Lois Nickel of the Mennonite group said volunteers from nearby states could be in Alabama by the weekend, helping to clear roads of fallen trees. She said a U.S. team is heading to Gulfport, Mississippi, where they hope to establish a base camp for volunteers next to the city's Mennonite church.

Nickel said a call for hundreds of Canadian volunteers may not happen for several weeks, depending on how long it takes to set up the church camp.

Canadian Red Cross volunteers with experience in large scale disasters were being contacted Wednesday and officials hoped a handful would be travelling to the southern U.S. by the weekend.

Suzanne Charest of the Red Cross said they'll likely send more than 100 volunteers in the coming weeks to help serve hot meals, assess the needs of displaced families and to train other volunteers.

In Edmonton, Canada's Public Security Minister said Canada will do whatever it can for the U.S.

Anne McLellan said that could involve a wide variety of things, including sending military engineers.

But McLellan said medical drugs may be among the first items Canada is called upon to ship south.

She said an American government agency asked Ottawa to do an inventory of medication that could help stop the spread of infection. McLellan said the inventory has been done and the U.S. government has been informed of Canada's ability to ship the drugs.
