Coolest places to live in Texas?

Looking for something near, or on the gulf.

Austin is by far the best place to live in Texas. 3hrs from the Gulf....but it has an awesome lake, scenic hills, the prettiest women you ever see. The cost of living is high.

Houston is a great city and is 45 minutes from the Gulf. Its cost of living can't be beat. It has all the features of a big city (sports teams, major tours, art, ect).

Otherwise Coprus Christi or South Padre...better to visit than live.

enjoy. Texas life is great.

I agree with Austin as the place of choice. There's some partying to be had as well.

There is no such thing as a "cool" place in Texas... I hate to be the one to break it to you...

Dallas is excellent. I lived there most of my life; if you want to experience it you've got to get out of the house. Hit Deep Ellum for clubs, the West End for shopping and dining. (or the Galleria).

Fort Worth is 30 minutes from downtown Dallas and has a great farmer's market. Six Flags over Texas and several waterparks are nearby.

Jimmy Buffett said it best......

"If you ever get the chance to go to Dallas.......Make me a promise.....Pass it By......They'll only do you wrong down in Dallas........I know well.......They done it to me"

I grew up in Houston but I got the hell out when I turned 18. Too damn hot. Houston is also insanely big. I live in San Diego and it seems like a small town compared to Houston.

Houston is too humid. Besides, Dallas has the best-looking women in the U.S.

I love Austin. Awesome music scene & just a cool, relaxed vibe. More hippy cool than Miami club scene cool, though.

They do? I never had much trouble getting it, but I always went to Plano. You do have to stock up though; can't get hard liquor after 9 or 10 and no beer after 12... unless you go to a bar.

Austin, hands down. Just make sure you're in Travis and not Williamson county.

Austin is the only place in Texas I'd live. One of my favorite cities anywhere.

I lived in Texas for 18 years.. Got the hell out of that state and I don't ever plan on moving back.. The Gulf is dirty as hell.. The storms suck ass.. Speed limits are 5mph slower and 10 at night time.. Takes forever to drive out of the state and way to many Bush loven, republican, Christian freaks..
