102 mph fastball.....

Watching the Mariners vs. White Sox game right now and Jenks just pitched one 102mph...I looked up the fastest pitch ever recorded and Nolan Ryan holds the record at 100.9 mph. Wonder if this dude now owns the record.

Duane Ward pitched 102mph and so Billy Cotch. I think Cotch even through one 103 mph.

I'm pretty sure Randy Johnson and Billy Wagner have hit the 100 +

I know A.J Burnett of the Marlins has hit 102 this season

Speed like that doesn't register to the non-ball players until you step your ass into a hitting cage and ratchet the speed up to max. Amazing anyone can hit that shit, it goes by in a blur and with a massive FOOM air disruption, lol.

I was hitting in the cages, hadn't taken a bat to my shoulder in years.. Literally I would say 14 years or so - LOL

We were out a a place where they do some training out here... have a friend who is on a team and he got me a a couple buddies in.. Anyways we had it set at 60 mph and OMFG man, I batted maybe 5% for the first 10-15 minutes, ended up getting a piece of about 1/4 of them at roughly 70 mph with maybe 1/10 of them going anywhere..

I suck ass at baseball but either Mako has a hell of a point or I REALLY need to hit the cages more often lol

I use to play AAA ball when I was younger and never did well hitting in the cage. Main reason I figure being that it is tough to judge when the ball is going to be released. Where with a human pitching fastballs to you, you have that 1-2 seconds before the release and can judge better.

Now if you went a lot to the cage that would of course change and would almost become automatic.

I know Randy has thrown a 102 like last year I think. One other guy has done it I can't remember who. And someone threw a 103 (sorry forgot his name too) but I think it was during training, not a game. And wasn't there something about him doing steroids or some shit?

I dunno I bad at my trivia

Interesting read if you're wondering why no one seems to *really* top the latest records.
