![]() I've recently started giving people video content in MPEG2 format (.m2p) because of it's small file size and high quality. However, it seems a lot of systems don't have the required codecs for this so it's not very convenient. Can anyone recommend an alternative? I'm trying to avoid a proprietary format like quicktime or window media.

I'm using Canopus Procoder... basically I want a very high quality format that is cross platform and FTPable. File sizes for DV are just way too big. MPEG2 seemed ideal but PCs and Macs out of the box can't handle it.

I know that, I'm basically looking for a replacement for DV files to save size.

DV AVI for DVD's, and online broadcast (like an iTV or something) and use DivX, WMV, Xvid, or MPG for your smaller file conversion. If possible, get a hold of Cleaner XL. Awesome program, and cleans up clips nicely.
I normally code all mine in DivX. Tried different formats for quality, file size, and ease of use. I prefer DivX for mine. A lot of people use various kinds for any number of reasons. Find which is best for you, and to your liking in quality and size, and stick with it. ![]() |
