I realize books are printed black on white, is this the best color for web design too? Which color combos do you think are easiest on the eyes.

Maddox would say a black background with large white text.

Did some research while doing an auto insurance company's affiliate web interface and came up with a desaturated grey-yellow with black / blue text. However, I've always liked a nice CCCCCC with black text for IDE interfaces.

Want to fuck someone over, go with red on blue or vice versus.

I'm not sure about the correct terms, but ambient light is reflected off of a book's pages, which is different then the light broadcast to the eyes via a monitor. Personally, I think a white background with black text on a monitor is a bit harsh, especially when viewing it for extended periods.

I like white text with a dark grey background.

Blue sublimely makes people think easy or calm.

Dark text on a light background holds a readers attention longer... The shades of grey is always a good choice IMO...

Kind of like current GFY theme ehh?

Actually I had a website with a darker blue background and #eeeeee as the font color and it always did make me feel calm too.
