Anyone who goes to a regular high st pub in the UK (Im guessing this dosnt include High Court Judges and Party Leaders) could tell you that a major issue is that people know they are going home at 11pm. So at 10pm everyone trys to pour as much booze down there throats as possible..

Of course that means people are going to be pissed and 1000's of pissed teens on the streets is obviously going to be a problem.

If people dont have that time limit they are not going to have to binge drink. Also people will trickle out of the pubs at different times.

OK... we can assume that these judges are intelligent people that have been put where they are because they make good descissions, but, they dont live in the same world as 90% of the population.

I believe if anything the new laws will help ease the bottleneck of everyone being put onto the streets at 11 and fighting with anyone who comes up to them. Cheers lads :D

I know for a fact that when they allowed free opening hours in Iceland the violence was reduced dramatically. Imagine a city where 95% of the pubs and clubs are consentrated in an area that is about 1 square kilometre, and all the people get dumped, drunk off their heads, to the streets at the same time. Belive me it is not pretty, normally there were dozens of people sent to the hospital every weekend because of fights over taxis etc. Now that hardly happens at all.

I think the conservatives in England will find they are wrong

11pm in london? i remember when i was there a few years ago we were at a club drinking until 4 in the morning or so.

11pm is currently last-orders for pubs

clubs are usually later, 4am is quite late, the usual time is around 230 - 3am

being from australia i am used to the clubs/pubs closing at 3 or 5am so I often dont leave home til 11pm, so its annoying being here in london and having the pubs close at 11:30. Went to Fabric friday night, at least that was open til 5am.

I agree that a later closing time allows people to leave at different times, like when they are tired and just want to go home.. instead of before midnight when they are still wide awake and drunk, looking for action.
