Program Owners, Serious Question About Affiliates
I have 721 affiliates right now and only 346 of them are sending traffic and sales is this a normal number or do I need to clean house?
Some are new sign ups and I know it takes a while to get yer groove on , Whats your cut off point or do you just let it roll? |

Are you loosing anything by keeping affiliates that are not currently making sales? I've already signed up for programs for a specific project, got backed up busy, and had to put the project on hold for a few months. Then I when I was ready I started sending traffic.

sometimes webmasters are back logged for months getting links up. I wouldn't delete any of them. unless they were just surfers trying to get free content

I wouldn't delete them. Webmasters are very busy and the day they sign up for you might not be the day they're ready to install links to you - and then they get busy and forget. We all do that. As long as you have them on your books they are potential clients and if you approach them right, might turn out to be some of your best affiliates.

I never sign back up for a program if I try to log back in and find the account purged.

I sign up to sponsors and put them on reserve until I am ready, sometimes I clean out my bookmarks and instead of tossing an affiliate who has a site or two I am interested in, I sign up so it is out of the way. Some sponsors I sighned up to years ago and still have not got around to using them, I was on a freehost with a subdomain and it is dead, but I will login and update my contact info or whatnot when I am ready. Send out some newsletters and remind folks what is going on these days, I often forget about a sponsor and get an email and I am like shit... there is that site I was looking for. Also... something for ALL sponsors to think about. I will sign up and the form times out, or I don't get my welcome aboard email. I do not want to signup again cause I like my user ID and support sucks and will not return messages... SPACASH! |

I would not delete the affiliates. What you need to do is communicate with your folks and tell them about what your program offers. This can be a email that will spur some of the dormant affiliates to start sending traffic. You might also be able to help out those that need help with the program.

As funny as that sounds, I know someone who did just that. All his dormant affiliates were bounced. I tried to tell him that was burning potential bridges. What do I know Im just a simple fat dude lol ![]() |

How about instead of deleting them, talk to them, you are expecting way to much... its not their life's goal to send you traffic, and make you money, they have other things on the go for sure. Encourage them, email the ones that are slacking with a "Hey, how are ya, just wanted to check if there was anyway I could help YOU make more money!, feel free to ICQ me if you need anything, ANYTIME"
Then you will establish a good relationship with your webmasters. |

I belong to hundreds of affiliate programs and many of them sit dormant.
Most of my traffic goes to my own paysites now, but sometimes I'll start getting in a flood of Asian traffic (as an example). I don't have any Asian sites so I'll start spreading it out into programs that have Asian sites. Some of these programs I have not sent traffic to for years. The ones that convet the best then get the traffic and several sign-ups per day. The one's have dropped me have lost out. |

Don't delete them but realize a good portion of the ones that never sent traffic are surfers that hit your $webmasters$ link on your tours (assuming you have that) and also webmasters that are signing up to your program and are just lookie-loo's.

Why would you EVER try to drop an affiliate? They could start sending traffic 5 years from now. Is it that hard to keep an extra 5kb of affiliate data for a while?

Sounds like a damn fine ratio to me. I never get rid of affiliates unless I catch them cheating or if they opt out of the email list |
