So I decided to quit smoking...

Yup I decided it was time. I was up to 2 packs a day and gettting a real bad cough from it...

So yesterday I smoked only half a pack of cigs to try and get the nicotine levels down instead of just going cold turkey. I figured if I only smoked half a pack by the time I went to bed I could surely go cold turkey the next day. Which is today. Ive been up about an hour. Havent had a cig in 8 hours.

Let the fun begin!!!!!!!!!

Man I know this is gunna be fucking hell for the first day... If I get super nasty with anybody today other then the trolls and morons I do appologize beforehand......

Headless, good luck dude, I quit 7+ months ago... you'll feel great after the first month, the cravings get less frequent and intense.

just know this. i tried to quit when i didnt want to quit, that will neer work. If you really have DECIDED to QUIT and WANT TO... simply DO NOT give in to cravings. I know how bad they are... hell sometimes (even though its been since 1997) if I am watching a movie and someone smokes sometimes it bringsd back cravings. They get less and less but it takes awhile, just know the cravings are the hardest part.

just do not give in, youll regret it and youll feel guilt. SOmetimes that helps people quit, sometimes it makes them give up on quitting because they feel helpless to the substance. Not the case. Say strong and just try to not cave in on the cravings.

ive been through it, you just HAVE TO DECIDE TO QUIT and stick to it. You can beat it. Its a motherfucker but it can be done.

good luck man, i promise you it will be worth it and you will be glad you did. After years of no longer smoking cigs, you really see how bad they are...

Put a pack of gum, Lifesavers, mints, Certs or something like that where you normally keep your cigs. Grab one of them when the urge to light up comes along.

2 packs a day? 1 pack a day is a bit much.. well, any smoking is too much really.

Deciding to quit is a great first step. You've got a wife to think about... try to find ways to spend more days with her, not less. And not smoking is a great start.

Good Luck! I totally agree that if you are not ready then you won't be able to do it but hey if you feel ready now then cold turkey should work. Try to always have a pen in your hand or something to just give you some distraction when you feel like having a cig.
