Yahoo Bot question...

when i go into yahoo chat, i get blasted with crytic messages around a url. there are hundreds if not thousands of these bots.

here is one:
aviva_kaleah805 (8/5/2005 6:47:07 PM): 34k2ak4vf0se5 <http://goqr41.funpretty.com:101446226j

now when doing a whois on these domains, it always shows up as the same guy (as far as i have checked) in israel:
azam, sela [email protected]
nehe hams 67/3
gaza, il 74656
IL
972544765334

i chatted with an irc guru and he told me that this bots are viruses running off infected computers around the world.

is this so? i find that hard to believe that a virus could be configured with a ever-changing yahoo chat protocal. furthermore, be able to run a chat client on the hosts side no matter how basic.

any ideas? myst?

I doubt they are all viruses. many are bots. however, some people do become infected with things that message other users without their knowledge.

honestly you've got a little too much time on your hands, let yahoo take care of their own problems

i dont consider it a problem. i consider it facinating how a guy in gaza can have such a massive network of bots.
but if u dont have any imput on the engineering of this network, then i suspect u have too much time on your hands posting in this thread.

I don't think he's concerned with Yahoo's problems.

I'd say he's trying to make some bucks off the yahoo bots spamming the chat rooms. Funny thing,, there is an almost simlar thread on xbiz, and someone posts "Yeah they make thousands of dollars a week" ,, but the poster declined to reveal the method.

I think the thread has been resurrected here in hopes of finding "the method".

Praise Jesus

I'd stick to submitting TGP galleries if I were you.

i dont go to xbiz.
see, i have been getting conflicting information. someone very experienced in irc bots said that most of the yahoo bots are virus spawned linking to fake-dialer downloads which contain the virus. some of the links indeed do that. that just seems odd to me to do that in yahoo chat.
maybe i should just get infect and see what happens. lol

I remember when people in Yahoo and AOL chatrooms used bots for "fun" only.

Actually i know exactly how it could be done, but you don't.....so you don't need to be in the thread.
