OOOoooooo close ... keep pondering!!! *eek* if someone beats my 8 hours my ego will take a mighty blow hahaha

btw only ONE person I've told this riddle to in the past 15 years has solved it and he had a hint from me

I'll post the hint below .. for those NOT wanting the hint ... do not read below this line!

my hint - what helped me was the fact that I used to be a nationwide telemarketing manager (no throwing rotten tomatoes .. i was the MANAGER! lol) and knew alot of city names

This is a simple math problem.

Fill the 3 gallon bucket and pour it into the 5 gallon bucket.
Fill the 3 gallon bucket again, and pour it into the 5 gallon, only 2 gallons will go into the 5 gallon which already has 3 gallons. So no you're left with 1 gallon in the 3 gallon bucket.

Empty the 5 gallon bucket and pour your 1 gallon into the 5 gallon bucket. Then fill your 3 gallon bucket again and pour it into the 5 gallon. You now have 4 gallons in the 5 gallon bucket.

Because none of the postal workers could figure out where to deliver the letter it sat in the dead letter section for two years.
After two years a new postal worker was assigned to the dead letter office.
His job was to figure out how to deliver the items .. the next day this letter was delivered.
Can you figure out who and where to deliver the letter?

Woodbridge, Massachusettes.

And a zip code. In fact I think the zip code is the most important thing.

No. The riddle clearly states, "It is answered using only the information provided."

ONLY being the keyword. There is no mention of a plane and therefore that CAN NOT be part of the solution.

RedShoe 07-26-2005 10:58 AM

I can't think of any.

Climb out of the box, darling. There is a cabin in a plane. If the plane crashed in the woods, the three could have been found in the cabin.

Using ONLY what's said, I deduced such. The mind initially sees a "cabin" in the logcabin sort of sense, but he didn't say "logcabin" he said "cabin" which could easily mean both. Thus my answer is correct. :)

vicki 07-26-2005 11:00 AM

Tala has to be right .... its an airplane cabin right?

Redshoe, not necessarily .. the USPS can and will deliver without a zip code if there is a name/title and place to deliver

True, however... uhm... But he said.... well... Ok, but wait... The 3 people are... ok, but I fly coach... the cabin would have been crushed... no, the people would have died... no, the woods are..... hey look it's snowing outside.

vicki 07-26-2005 11:03 AM

how about an easy one

A cab driver is going up a one way hill, which you can only go down. A policeman is sitting in his car and can see the cabdriver, so why doesn't he get out and arrest him?

Thank you. Explained that well. I used the word "only" to keep people off of "they froze to death" or "avalance"....maybe it would have been better if I said 'the answer is provided within the riddle'

Thinking like Tala.. is because he's in a plane?

No.. it's because he's walking?

Are they all dead?

Hmmm....what comes to my mind is the cabbie driving in the correct direction, but going up the hill before he can drive down it.

Tala got the midget one... I owe her a drink @ Internext :)

Here's another -

A man has hung himself in his basement. The basement is completely empty, and there is only some water on the ground. The noose is hung from a rafter.

How did the man hang himself?

How did the man hang himself?

He jumped off a large ice cube which melted after he died.

I won't be at Internext FL, hon. Catch me in Vegas?

luv$ 07-26-2005 11:27 AM

Either way, here's my last one:

A car is parked on the side of the road. All the doors are locked, all of the windows are intact and rolled up. There is NO damage to the car whatsoever.

Inside the car is a man and a woman, they are both dead from bullet wounds.

There is no gun in the car, nor any shell casings.

How did the couple get shot?

IF YOU HAVE HEARD THIS B4, DO NOT POST THE ANSWER!

Let others figure it out!

evelknievel 07-26-2005 11:41 AM

it doesn't say that the bullet wounds were inflicted WHILE they were in the car....so they could be like Bonnie & Clyde or something?

SilverTab 07-26-2005 11:44 AM

try out this one...it's like a riddle..but..in images...

http://www.etienne.nu/imagepuz/
the secret code to start it is "hornet"

I finished it up to level 15...

ezrydn 07-26-2005 11:45 AM

On the "two bucket" issue, a 3gal and a 5 gal, right? Fill both half full! That makes 1.5 and 2.5 gals. 1.5+2.5=4.

That's not the answer - Let's just say they were shot in the car.

so "how" they were shot is the riddle? ( i.e. the answer isn't 'they're in a hearse' or something) ok.....

Furious_Female 07-26-2005 12:02 PM

A father and son are driving along in a car and get into an accident. The father dies at the scene and the son is rushed to the hospital. When he gets to the hospital, an old surgeon says, "I can't operate on him, he's my son!"

How can that be, if his father was just killed?
