I meant, will Lula escalate this tragic incident to the point of confronting the UK army...

How about round up a bunch of Brits?
Do you think Blair and the UK will let it go?

Lula is too busy increasing trade and turning Brasil into a power house. Name a country with a larger positive trade gap per capita.

I do think the idea of Brazil getting into a confrontation with the Brits is a bit far fetched but I think Lula along with Chavez in Venezula are some interesting cats to watch. South America is moving to the left and that is a positive move to keep the Northern hegemonist in check.

Very good analysis, Chavez is a good buddy of Castro and is doing his best to get Lula to join their alliance.
Castro knows he doesn't have many years to go, so he'd love to give it to the Yankees one more time before he meets the Che again...
And let's not forget that when Argentina invaded the Falklands, everyone was pretty much stunned. But that was long before most of the people here were even born

Canada.

Canada:
Trade surplus (2004): USD$29.22B
Population: 32,805,041 (July 2005 est.)
Surplus per capita: USD$805

Brasil:
Trade surplus (2004): USD$33.70B
Population: 186,112,794 (July 2005 est.)
Surplus per capita: USD$181

Don't get me wrong, a $33.7 gigabuck surplus is damn good, but it doesn't come close to putting Brasil in the top surplus per capita realm.

It seems many of you love this idea of the South moving to the left.
Tell you what, how about you all leave your comfy homes in the U.S and come down and try living here for a year.Maybe go to a protest or two,get gassed and shot at.
Then let`s see how much you like the idea of the "new" leftist movement in South America.
It`s all a bunch of crap! There is no "new left"! While Chavez is jetting around the world in his new Airbus 319CJ which cost us venezuelans $40mm and his buddies are raping the oil industry here in Venezuela he denounces the U.S imperialism.Did any of you know most of these "new heroes of the left" have their sons and daughters all living in the U.S? If they hate it so much why the hell do you send your sons to live there?? Fuck send them to cuba and see how they do!

Good post
Maybe our gfy resident "Che Guevara" lovers will read it and stop thinking that living under Castro or Chavez is the best that can happen to mankind

I served the army, I know for a fact Brazil isn't prepared to a war and they actually don't even pretend to. Brazil is as pacifist as a country could be, and at the moment the politicians are way tooo busy with a internal scandal involving Lula's party.

I think you're a bit paranoid. Communism ain't going nowhere nowadays, some people don't even see Lula as a left party anymore.

It's really not about communism, it's more about China wanting to dominate the world. And unlike Russia, they are very potent and intelligent.

I don't want any heightened conflict among these superpowers. WEe just don't know the damaged it would cost.
