Romance of the Three Kingdoms X

Picked this up on PS2 yesterday, pretty cool. Brings back memories of when I used to play the first one on NES

I'd recommend it if you are into strategy, feudal china, type games.

Never heard of that....here you go through actual historic events in China's past with actual character names and such. Basically you start as some Master, and work your way up in power, running everything from farming to trade to tech , fighting battles, dueling, even competing in debating skills with others.

1-8 players, though it's quite enjoyable playing for one player.

I'm not sure when AOE came out, but this game has been around since the early NES days....I used to play Parts I and II back then

Ah, ok. I hadn't heard of it before. I don't think AoE is that old.

No, if anything games like AOE copied alot of their format from these old games.
I have Romance IV for my old super nintendo....also Genghis Khan II, Pacific Theater of Operations......man those old games are addictive, I can still stay up for 36 hours straight trying to beat them.

I don't like the new ones so much as the old ones. The new ones are almost "too good"...too much detail for some reason bothers me.

hehe I know what you mean about the old ones. I used to stay up all night trying to beat Mario Bros or Sonic. Ecco drove me batty, I still have little dolphin nightmares.

The first one actually came out back in the 80s. And the first game the company made of this type(Nobunaga's Ambition) was in 1983.

Seems like you were into the old SNES Koei games. BTW you should try Silent Hunter III. Might be your kind of game.
